Guess I missed this thread!
I'm in Monroe (far southeast - just north of Toledo) and Jack is in Carson City.

I'm in Warren. My baby is residing in Macomb County Corr. Not too bad of a drive for me. Only about 20-30 min depending on traffic.

Hi to everyone-I am new to this forum and new to PTO
I live in Petoskey. my son is in Mid Michigan in St Louis
Just like Sheryl-i get panic attacks about driving so I don't get to see him as often as I want to. for some reason i can't shake those demons on the highway.
i think this a great thread for us in michigan. I also want to respond to Cessie-you are basically my neighbor (waving hi to you) since you live in TC-i do know what you are going thru. it is so difficult to try to get it thru our kids heads that no matter what they are loved and that we will always be there and stand by them thru thick and thin. just keep up what you are doing and continue to love him. they have a tough time growing up and when stupid things happen they get really down on themselves and it takes alot of love and encouragement to help them get through the tough times.
l will pray for you and everyone else here.
love to all
laurie

I live in Muskegon, and my son is in Jackson (Cooper Street facility) Smiling...I thought I was the only one who had "panic attack" trouble with driving. I would love to carpool with someone and will pay all (even extra) gas funds needed. I can drive to your house if you aren't too far away! My vehicle isn't in the best shape....plus panic attacks on busy streets and unknown areas.

I seen one person who was in Holland, but don't know which prison they're headed for. I might need to stop for a cigarette now and then. Anyone going in a similiar direction?
Hoping so strongly. I haven't seen my son in 3.5 years.

Evercom messed up and put a phone block on him. They tried to say they didn't know my bill was paid. I pay my bill every month! So I haven't even talked to him for months now. I wondered why he stopped calling. Someone on this board gave me Evercom's phone number....so I had the block removed yesterday....thank you SO very much.

He had moved from Lapeer to Jackson last July. I thought his lack of calls had something to do with the move. Two days ago, I got a letter from him. He thinks his own mother has rejected him. He thinks I put the block on the phone. It makes me cry to read that letter. He keeps trying to apologize because he thinks he did something wrong, but he didn't. I sent him a letter yesterday, and I hope it doesn't take a week to get to him.

I need to see my son so bad! My apologies for rambling on. If you have read this far, thank you for listening.

To JimBsHunee: My guy was at Camp Branch for a while which is in the same "complex" in Coldwater as Lakeland. I used to go down the night before visits and stay at the Super 8 motel. They were nice and in the fair ballpark as far as cost was concerned. If you have a AAA membership or are a member of AARP, you get a discounted rate. As far as air travel, if you have to go in to Detroit Metro, you will probably have about a 2-1/2 hours drive to Coldwater. I have no idea what the distance is from Chicago or if there is someplace closer you can get to by air. Good Luck. Those visits - no matter how infrequent - are a God send to both of you.

Rebecca/Lessoninfaith:

I wish we were closer to each other. I can understand your "panic attack" situation completely. I have suffered for over 20 years with the same problem. However, thank God, with a change in medication and I have no idea what else, I am much much better and have been able to drive to see my guy when he has been miles and miles away, not to mention doing a lot of other ordinary things in my life. I may not be able to help you with your visiting situation, but if you need to talk to someone who has "been there" and is better, do a reply and I will try to contact you by PM. Good Luck!

To Laurie/lbingaman: See my response to Rebecca. I don't know if I can help by talking about those "panic attacks", but I am here if you need me.

Sheryl: Not everyone can compredend the "fear" involved in panic attacks. See my last two posts and let me know if you need to talk.
