It's true they don't have conjugal visits in California. I did read something awhile back that some of the minimum custody places might still have it but I don't know if that's true or not. The reason for taking that away is the tougher stance the politicians convinced the public they should take on these prisoners they portrayed as living it up at the taxpayer expense, basically. But the reasons they probably give to the public are budget cuts and security risks.

No, it's not true!! There is still conjual visiting in California. The program is allowed for those who have a release date. And is not allowed for inmates who have a life sentence, drug traffic'ing charge while in prison or inmates who are charged with a sex crime.

Thanks for clarifying that for us, Cheetoes. I knew I read somewhere that some inmates still had it, but that it had been taken away from a lot of the prisoners who used to have it.

Default Life without Parole-No Conjugal Visits

for sure Life without Parole-No Conjugal Visits....
i think if you're married and have a parole date, you get
conjugals 3 or 4 times per year.
Peace out.

Yep, conjugal visits- or family visits; or the guys in there call them a weekend at the bone yard..... are every 3 months. If you have a flexable schedule- you can be asked to be put on a waiting list, and if someone calls at the last minute to cancel, you can take their spot. I've been told people gets visits like this about every 6 weeks. The visits are from Friday morning until Sunday morning; and he needs to buy food from the prison before the visit, and they charge him 65 dollars; so he needs that money on his books.
I don't know if sex offenders can get conjugals... I think it depends on the crime,... have you look it up in the title 15 yet?

Does anyone know - does a 108-year to life sentence count as "life," and therefore, ineligible for conjugal visits? And I heard that this situation of lifers not being allowed conjugal visits is going through the courts as we speak, to get them reinstated. Anyone know the answers to these 2 questions? Thanks.

I guess I should have added, the sentence is 4 counts at 25 years to life each, to be served consecutively. Also, he is in the SHU at Pelican Bay, which may or may not make a difference. Do guys in the SHU get conjugal visits?

Song, I do not think so...any sentence with life at the end- as far as I understand it- does not qualify for family visits. You have to have an actually parole date- even if it is in 50 years, but you have to have that date, to get family visits

Hello All!!
There are conjucal visits in Calif. I have one every 28 days. There are restrictions for sure!! You do not live it up when you are at the "bone yard" as its called. You eat all frozen food with exceptions to people with Doctors notes. There is count every 4 hours, 24 hours a day!!! Its hell when the phone rings for your mate to come out at 4 in the morning and you are sound asleep, but its worth it. Some of the restrictions that will keep you from getting conjucal visits are, domestic violence, rape, life term, molestation and i'm sure there are many more reasons. Although every prison has its own set of rules for their visits. I hope that I can help anybody that has any questions about this. Just pm me and I will answer any questions I can. Thanks~~ KJsTT

Default Sorry that is not correct

NO one in the state of California gets a conjugal visits if they are a lifer. Just becuase you have a parole date that also does not entitle you to a conjugal visit. Your conjugal visits are based on your crime. You can be in for a felony crime and still have a parole date but if you used a weapon they can deny the conjugal visit because you are considered dangerous. But the most common reasons family visits will always be denied are for rapists, sexual offenders, child molesters, murderers, lifers, domestic violence. I have known people in that were there for a robbery but were denied for conjugal visits because a weapon was used. I do apologize if i may be incorrect but twh 4 prisons i have dealt with did not allow my husband to have conjugal visits. Also if they had a domestic violence charge and the prison did not catch it before the inmate when it and its discovered after they will teminate all famiyl visits.

Closed custody inmates are not allowed family visits too.

Default Forget Conjugal visits, your contact visits are in jepardy

On the California ballot in November, there will be 2 initiatives on the ballot which will seriously effect your incarcerated loved ones… Prop 6 and Prop 9

Prop 9 is called Marsy’s law

The original draft actually stated “contact visits and cable tv”, etc... The proposal has been watered down and what people need to understand is that it is written to take away the privileges given to incarcerated loved ones… If this passes, all visits could be behind glass. This is very real and it can happen!

In section 4, #5 it states…

(5) Victims of crime have collectively shared the right to expect that persons convicted of committing criminal ac are sufficiently punished in both the manner and the length of the sentences imposed by the courts of the State of California. This right includes the right to expect that the punitive and deterrent effect of custodial sentences imposed by the courts will not be undercut or diminished by the granting of rights and privileges to prisoners that are not required by the provision of the United States Constitution or by the laws of this state to be granted to any person incarcerated in a penal or other custodial facility in this state as a punishment or correction for the commission of a crime.

This is negatively (severely) your incarcerated loved one. WAKE UP and let people know they need to vote NO…

This is touted as a ‘victims rights bill” and will get sympathy voters --- But it is truly someone paying for voters to apply vigilante revenge for the loss.

Here is a link to the initiative! (read it with OPEN eyes!)

I get my FV's every 30 days. My Hubbie is at a fire camp...I don't order food..I bring it in. I guess that is just another perk for being at a fire camp.

To the lady who asked about if your hubbie is in the SHU.. No they do not get FV's until they have completed the program.

Default Ok, so you get visits....

Now, the important question --- are you educating your family, friends and coworkers about Prop 6 and especially Prop 9.

You family visits will disappear and so will regular contact visits, if they have their way with Prop 9.

EDUCATE VOTERS!
