Default Susanville vs. Jamestown, Etc.(Location of camps/how to locate inmate)

Since my son was "this close" to passing his firefighter training course at Jamestown, I was dying to know to where he might be transferred. He told me that half the camps are considered as grouped into a "southern" section, and the other half are, of course, the "northern" section. He said that prisoners trained in Jamestown (Sierra Conservation Center) are then sent to one of the southern camps. Likewise, those in Susanville (California Correctional Center) are sent to one of the camps in the northern section. The problem was that I didn't see anything on CDCR's website about which of the camps belonged to which section. After a lot of searching online I found a map that shows exactly where the prisoners from each training center can be sent. Note: the map also shows four other training centers' camps which are far less populated: the California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo, the California Rehabilitation Center in Norco, the California Institution for Women in Corona, and (for juveniles) the Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp in Pine Grove.

I don't know how long the map will be available, but here's how to find it "tucked away" on the CDCR website:

Go to their site (I'm not allowed to post URLs), and in the search box in the upper right-hand corner, type "maps" and click on the magnifying glass icon. A list of links to various maps comes up. You're looking for the link entitled, "Map of California's Correctional and Rehabilitation Conservation ..." Click on that to see the two-page PDF document that clearly shows how the training centers' camps are divided up.

I hope this helps somebody else avoid the stress and time I invested in finding it.

You can find a link to CDCR's page with the camps listed in alphabetical order, plus the map showing their locations over HERE.

The link to the two page document OP mentions is HERE.

Also, please note that if you do not know which camp your loved one is at, you can call CDCR's Identification Unit at (916) 445-6713 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. excluding state holidays (this information is visible on the CDCR Inmate Locator page)
