Default My fiance wants me to speak at his parole hearing

My fiance wants me to speak at his parole hearing and I am scared to death I do not know what to say and I don't speak well in front of authority I start to cry and then can't talk. I am affraid I'll say the wrong thing and he'll be denied. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should say? any help would be deeply appreciated.

I know exactly how you feel, I get like that when I have to talk in front of others too. Maybe you could say how much your loved one has changed for the best while he's been inside, and give an example or two. What he plans on doing once he's home. If you have a job lined up for him I would mention that. I really don't know what to say but I know others that have been in your shoes will come along shortly and give you some tips. I wish you the best!

You can do it!!!

I agree with Mrs. D. After the hearing, I wished I would have said and done things differently, but he got the deferral we were hoping for.

My hubby just had his parole hearing on monday. When he told me he needed me to speak on his behalf I got soooooooooooo scared. well... the parole lady was very nice. I cried but was able to say everything I wanted. well... maybe I forgot few things but I'm sure she got my point. Don't worry! It wont hurt and you will do great. My husband's counselor told me the parole hearing went great and that was a big relieve for me.
Good luck to you!

Thank you all so much. I am scrambling my brain trying to think of things to say. It's hard because he is innocent of the charges and was a good person before he went it we just ran out of money to fight so had to take a plea.

1 - Don't minimalize anything.
2 - Tell them what he has done to atone for this crimes
3 - Tell them what you will do to help him stay on the straight and narrow if paroled.
4 - Tell them what you have set up already in the community, Ie counseling, AA, NA, therapy, etc.

good luck!

Did you guys take a piece of paper in with you with notes? Can I do that? I'm afraid I won't say whatI want to although most of what I want to say is in my letter to the parole board.

I took a whole folder in with me. I had copies of all the support letters that were sent, job reports, certificates and notes for what I was going to say.

The representative asked for my copies of the letters. She said she would have got them eventually, but it would speed up the process.
