Default "Character" Essay

My husband is taking mandatory therapy. Even though it lengthened his sentence, he really did need it and is really benefitting from it. After this essay, they should let him come home! I think it shows incredible growth!!!

His "class" was asked to write an essay on “What does Character mean.” He has funny stories about how the other guys just asked “what DOES character mean” and went to the dictionary. He quickly wrote out this essay:

What Does Character Mean to Me?

Character is what my grandfather had. Character is what I, along with others, saw in him that made him different from most people. It’s what made me want to be like him. It was the way he lived, the way he treated people, and the way he acted every day, with every person, regardless of whether anyone else was watching or not.

Character affects how we live, and the choices we make. It was what I had aspired to achieve and display, in order to be respected and highly thought of.

Character is what I lacked, or lost, in my offensive behavior that led me to where I am now.

Character is what I must spend the rest of my life working to achieve, in order to re-gain the trust and respect that I threw away, and to be well-remembered by my family, friends, and people I come into contact with throughout the remainder of my life. Character is what I want my wife and family to see in me.

excellent essay!
It sounds like your husband is on the right track!
My boyfriend is home, but I would love to hear what his definition of character is.
Bet it doesn't sound like this!

That is an amazing definition of character, especially coming from a person in his situation....I pray that he becomes that man.

That's awesome! I sure couldn't have come up with something like that, and I admire that he seems to be a pretty eloquent writer. Gives a whole new perspective on that word, that's for sure!
Thanks for sharing!!!
