They make you pay to get money to buy their stuff. I hate that.
Back when I visited you used cash for the vending machines. No card. Just cash.

It doesn't cost anything to use the card if you return it after the visit. The $5 you "pay" to get the card is a $2.50 deposit and $2.50 of initial value on the card. When you turn it in after the visit you get a refund of any value left on the card plus the $2.50 deposit.

It's actually a pretty good system now that all the machines are working more consistently. It makes things move so much faster at the vending machines!

Yes, the card system seemed to work pretty well. The cost of some of the food is another story.

There is no max limit. You can put as much on the card as you want, and they do not check the balance during processing.

Nope! VSP does not have any GP yards, only SNY.

Closed to intake, as in not accepting new inmates? I don't believe so-- I haven't heard anything about that, and my husband has mentioned new guys coming in.
