Default The holidays & grieving

Solstice/Christmas/Kwanzaa is upon us and many of us will be dealing with the grieving process at the holidays.

Just a reminder to be kind to yourself, don't set unreasonable expectations for yourself around grief and grieving. If you're feeling down or sad, allow yourself to feel that and acknowledge it for what it is. Don't buy into the media's hype that everyone should be having fun and smiling over the holidays. That's simply unrealistic.

And it doesn't matter how many days/weeks/months/years it's been since you lost a loved one. The holidays tend to bring that loss to the surface again.

Wishing all of you who have lost a loved one an emotionally healthy holiday season,

Gin

Seems like a good time of year to nudge this up to the top.

Even if you've already survived a few holidays missing your loved one, the holidays can still be rough to get through.
