Default Walker on Lockdown anyone know why?

Hi I went to see my husband on Monday and before I went I called and they were on lockdown. I know it happens all the time at all facilities just curious if anyone knew why. I also don't want to add to the rumor mills but this one is of prime concern, I was listening to a few COs talking about how alot of people were going to retire from the DOC and they alluded to the fact that they were not going to hire people to take their places, they were talking about getting alot of overtime... I am wondering if anyone has heard if this is true and I'm kind of worried that if it is, this will affect our visits, because if they don't have enough people for the shift, it seems like the logical thing would be to lock down. So I'm hoping I"m wrong but wondering others thought.

Hi Mel,
I am not sure if this is true or not, but two Saturdays ago I was waiting in line for a visit at Robinson. A co came over and told us that the visit would be delayed because of something that happened outside. Well, a hour and a half later they let us in. We had about a 20 min visit. My man said that nothing happened. That they were just short staffed and did not have enough people to cover the visit. Who knows. I do know that a guy I work with who is also a co at cheshire is retiring soon. I also heard they were laying off, but I don't know for sure. Keep your chin up. I guess we will find out sooner or later.
