Default Itís a Boy!

We welcomed our first (and last...Iím old and tired!) child together into the world a few days ago and heís absolutely perfect.

We went out to lunch and as soon as I walked into the restaurant, I ran to the bathroom to throw up. I thought I felt a hush of something down below, but I wasnít entirely sure and I didnít want to get my hubbys hopes up (or miss lunch...girls gotta eat) so I didnít say anything to anyone about it. About halfway through the meal there was a huge gush and there was no mistaking it or hiding it. Hubby swept me up and almost ran out of the restaurant without paying (and looked at me like a I had two heads when I asked if I could go back in a take my food to go, but like I said a GIRLS GOTTA EAT!).

We got to the hospital, my labor started a couple hours later, and after 3 hours of contractions our baby was born ❤️.

My husband was always in and out of prison during his ex wifeís pregnancies and births, so heíd never had the full experience before. He never held her hair back as she threw up every morning or went to OBgyn appointments or dealt with constant hormonal breakdowns or watched her belly grow and itís something that eats him up inside.

He was absolutely committed to being there for every second of our pregnancy and every important moment of our sons life and heís made good on that commitment so far. He was so excited to do the ďcrazy dad driveĒ to the hospital. He doted on me in labor and drove the nurses crazy with his protectiveness Iím sure. He cut the umbilical cord and went with the baby every time he went to the nursery...Iíve never seen such a proud papa before. It was most definitely love at first sight.

Itís been a crazy, emotional rollercoaster of an 11 months - full of heartache and excitement and love and so, so much joy. And I wouldnít have it any other way.

My mother in law raced into town as soon as she heard I was in labor.

The woman who wanted nothing to do with me, who BEGGED my husband not to have children with me, who said ďI donít want to be stuck walking through the grocery store holding a little mixed kidís handĒ fawned all over this baby for days. Posted pictures of him all over her Facebook and sent photos to everyone she knows. Wouldnít put him down and dressed him up like a little ken doll. She cleaned our house top to bottom while I was in the hospital and TOLD ME SHE LOVED ME when she got in the car to head home.

Children really do bring forth miracles . Now if only he could perform a miracle with my own mother. 🤷🏽*♀️

Thereís always hope. People can, and do, change. Itís just impossible to predict what and how long it will take for them to make that choice. So many people had given up on my husband and I canít blame them. Heís done 5 prison bids, failed every attempt at parole, spent years on drugs, running the streets, gang involvement...until one day he just decided to walk away from all of it. Watching him fight his demons has been awe-inspiring and heart-breaking but I hope in the end heíll be an inspiration instead of the tragedy everyone thought he was destined to be.

Congratulations!. Just think,if you hadn't given your now husband a chance and wrote to him (I'm assuming you're mwi?). Well, this little boy wouldn't even exist. Somethings are truly meant to be. The way I think of certain things in life are a bit odd. But when I read about mwi's or outside couples that got together made a baby or 2 then broke up, I feel that's they were still meant to be. If only for a short while.
