Default All TN prisons are on Lockdown (January 2019)

Just heard they locked down all prisons within TN bc a high ranking vice lorde gotten killed in Memphis near the air port along with his gf. Wars had started at south central TN prison. I went to see my son and they turned me a way both Saturday and Sunday. He is at North West Correctional annex. I have heard from him since Thursday around 5 pm. Does anyone know how long it may last? The CO told me that the Vice Lordes are fighting over that position that came av.

Why are all of the prisons are on lockdown since Thursday night? TDOC will not tell me why! I can't believe every prison is on lock down. They said it started with south central. My husband is in Northwest correctional complex. If anyone have any info about the lock down please say something. I have not heard from him since Thursday around 5 or 6 pm.

I found the following on TN DOC:

Quote:
Due to information received from external law enforcement partners, Thursday night the Tennessee Department of Correction temporarily locked down facilities across the state.
Some facilities did open and have normal visitation, others did not. Here is a list as of yesterday at 6:12 pm:

Heard from my husband last night and again tonight-yes on Blue Phone(@ NWCX). He says he has been told they will be on LD for another month even though TDOC website may say different.
I've done most of his 20+ years with him and know how TDOC operates. Rest as peaceful as you can, everyone is ok there. :-)

Yes but Federal and State are different, one has nothing to to do with the other....that's why the FCI Memphis thread that you also post in is in the Federal forum and not in this Tennessee forum Regarless, I do hope that both lockdowns are over soon so everyone can hear from their loved one!

Default Locked down

My son is at NWCX and they have been on lock down since the incident happened. I don't think they'll be coming off anytime soon! Also, my son told me yesterday a CO got jumped by one of the inmates, so who knows what will happen now. Hope this helps. At least they are ALL safe!

Very good point! Better lockdown than rioting. Nobody's safe when rioting starts.

Are you saying a month for the current statewide lockdown?

...which is a Federal facility, not a TDOC facility.

I have no idea about statewide but NWCX, Lake County are still on lockdown but NRU is off. All of these are at the same place just different fenced parts.

Spoke to hubby tonight for a few minutes (Blue Phone). Still on lockdown Site 1 & 2, but NRU is off. No visit this weekend -- not sure if NRU site will-probably. All depends on funeral tomorrow in Memphis if they will be off Monday for Martin Luther King Day visit. Their Holiday packages are at the facility and will be passed out this weekend. Spring package catalogs were distributed today and their cut off date for ordering is February 22 he told me... (I just looked at i/m package site-ordering is from Feb 1 until the 28th). Hubby is NOT good with numbers in any way, shape or form-- lol

Here is an article w/video that was sent to me by another member:

Vice Lords leader killed in Memphis; prisons go on lockdown

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man found dead in a car near the Memphis airport last week was a former Vice Lords gang chief who exposed the organization in a trial, prosecutors said.

Ronald Terry, known as "Big Pokey" or by other nicknames, was found shot to death Jan. 10 inside a white Cadillac that plowed through a fence at Dwight and Imogene. A woman, identified as Candid Sanders, was also found dead in the car, police said.

A prosecutor with the Shelby County District Attorney's Office confirmed Terry was a high-level member of the Vice Lords gang.

https://wreg.com/2019/01/17/prisons-...ed-in-memphis/

The article also states that all facilities except Morgan County have resumed normal operations:

Quote:
The facilities returned to normal operations after TDOC reviewed intelligence and evaluated security at each facility. Only one state facility, Morgan County Correctional Complex, is still on partial lockdown, the department said.
If that is not true at your loved one's facility, contact the authors of the article: Jessica Gertler and David Royer
