Default How can I send money?

I have a question ive never sent money to an inmate before ive been thinking about putting money on my boyfriends books but I was wondering because there are rules and limits on everything else is there a limit on how much I could send? And if so is it different if they are in the SHU? Is ask him but id like it to be a surprise

I moved your post because 1) it was off topic from the OP and 2) you'll get more responses in the appropriate forum.

I send it via Jpay, (it's faster and safer) if he is in the SHU, he is allowed to buy $55.00 in the canteen, if he owes 'Restitution', CDCR will deduct 50% of whatever you send +5% CDCR Adm. fee + $ Jpay fee. I send my son 120.00 for him to get the 55.00, + 9.70 Jpay fee. He gets it in 72 hrs. You have to let him know when and how much You've sent, because CO's take for ever to give them the receipt.
here is the Link : http://www.jpay.com/
Hope this is helpful.
Blessings
