My guy is in 4B. The mail is lagging for me as I haven't received a letter since last Friday, but I am partly attributing it to the fact that it was Memorial Day so no mail on Monday. Also, I have had experiences where the mail is slow going in as well as out. There have been times where it took a letter from B 8 days to even leave the mail room. Being patient is not easy for me so there are times where I feel like pulling my hair out, but slowly I have adjusted. Hang in there!

Me either.. Patience is not in my vocabulary although I'm still going through this since 2006 lol.. But hey waiting on the mail is never something I'll get used to. It'd be easier if I knew he got my mail saying I knew he was there. I know he stresses on that.. But geese... & yes these holiday no mail really mess Us prison writers up. Thanks sooo much.... Hang in there too...

Right there with you! My man is in 4A! There are some weeks where I will get two letters. One will be from like a month ago and the other one will be recent! Then there will be where I only get one letter a week! I swear the mail goes up and down! But when there is a holiday like this past weekend! Always expect the mail to be backed up! But other than that all you can do is get creative play games, send pictures, buy stickers to stick on the envelopes! (:

Does anyone know how long it takes for them to receive there T.V. once it's delivered to the prison?

From experience, I'd say dont expect him to receive it sooner than a month after it gets to the prison :-/

They can buy paper cheaper than we can send them. I think my husband said a legal pad was less than a buck.

True but if it comes out of their monthly spending limit then it's a dollar that can't go for noodles.

Personally, I detest the yellow legal tablets and send him white tablets that have a glue binding. My personal preference. To me, it makes it seem a little bit less like prison.

I also send my letters on specialty papers like you would use for a resume, same with envelopes. Once again, makes it feel a little bit more like real life,

Hello ladies,
My loved one will be getting out soon and it seems they are not giving him parole but some lesser evil due to re-alignment as his charge was a "minor" one and he would have been home long ago if not for "gang validation", sigh.
Anyway....does anyone know if he will be released from Corcoran?
When can I send his dress outs and to what address?
How far in advance is approved?
What can I send for dress outs? Pants, jacket, t-shirt and regular shirt, color issues.etc...?
Will they give him money from his commissary fund in cash?
Can he stay at a local motel till I'm off work (and can come get him )or are no Felons allowed in town?
Any other issues I should consider?
Thanks!

My husband is in calipatria ASU and I'm not sure how long he's going to be there, he goes to committee in December. I miss my contact visits with him. Does anyone know what a 128b is and how much can that effect you?

What is the latest you have received confirmation of your appointments? I emailed yesterday at 625 am for 930 appts on thanksgiving and next weekend. I havent heard back. Im worried I didnt get any. So I reforward my email explaining I did not know and if they could book me for whatever is available. Do you think they would do it? I had no idea they dont just give you the next slot available.
Anyone have any idea?

They changed protocol and now they are allowing less bookings via e-mail.
I would call Wed. (today) and book thru. the phone.
I had a minor melt-down thinking my man had another heart attack when I e-mailed at 6:03 and got no response and read nothing on here about issues in shu.
Good luck

thanks Sheryl. I made appointments over the phone. It just gives me a bit anxiety because, they do not give confirmation numbers when you call them. I asked but they said "your confirmation is you being on the list". I would hate to show up thinking I have an appointment but they tell me I dont. Have you ever had that problem? The gal told me the power shut down so she was not able to make the email appointments.

I understand your concern but it has never been an issue for me and I have booked over the phone several times.
I did lose an appointment due to a power failure at the prison and had driven up there only to be turned away but everyone was not allowed to visit that day due to it being a security issue.

If you don't get your confirmation by Wed. morning then I would start calling for an appointment.
Holidays are hell when it comes to prison, mail is slow and there are less visiting slots open due to more loved ones visiting for the holidays

Default Prisoner Property Matrix for SHU

Does anyone have a link to the updated list of what personal property is allowed (post 2013 hunger strike-induced settlement) in the SHU?

I downloaded the DOM for 2016 but it is a beast and my computer is a POS and slooooooowwwwwww. A handy link would be very much appreciated.
