Default Out of state parole

What is the process if an inmate wants to paroled our of state? Can they be paroled to a house or apt? My gf earliest release date is 4/18, and wants to move to Ohio.

Interstate compact is a process that she needs to start way before release....I forget the time line, but I believe its somewhere around 3 months. However, if she has no family to parole to in Ohio, she will not qualify for Interstate compact.

Sorry sweetie.....I hope she has family there in Ohio that will allow her to parole to their home. Welcome to PTO!

It's 120 days before release. My husband and I just went through the process. It is extremely hard to get approved... we were not. I wouldn't even consider applying if she doesn't have resident family there... boyfriend/girlfriend doesn't count. If she wants to move to Ohio, she will need to complete parole first. I know you want to hear something different.... 😞

Tell her to speak to her counceler immediately. They will tell her what she has to do and what paper she will have to fill out but it's not to hard. My nephew just did this about six months ago and was transferred to Florida to live with his girl friend.

I transferred parole from Michigan to California. My in prison counselor at Huron Valley made me wait until I was released and have my parole agent in Michigan do the Interstate Compact paperwork.
My transfer was discretionary, though I had been living in California and had a job/house/car waiting for me.
It took about a month after I was released and I was approved by Cali and out of Michigan within a week after that.
It's not hopeless but it's not assured either.

I think (JMO) its easier to transfer parole after release than to get interstate compact out of prison, especially if there is no family in the receiving state.

Default Out of State Parole

Hi, just a question about changing states. My Man is in Michigan and I'm in SC. He only has me. When he goes up for parole he wants to come home to SC. We are not married but have a Son. Will this play in him coming home.

No he needs to tell his counselor that he will be wanting to move there. I'm pretty sure he has to let them know his address etc but the sooner he give them this info the better.
