Default Visiting d/r December 8/9/10

Hi, I travelled from the Netherlands to see my friend these 3 days but last night when the guard made his rounds he told them that all visits for December 8th are cancelled due to icy roads?! I feel devastated and will call up there first thing tomorrow morning, anybody any advice?

Thanks for reading...

Call the prison and ask again and tell them how far you've travelled. That's the only thing I can think of. I would do that. I have a contact for special visitation at the prison where my boyfriend is at.
I wish you good luck - I was just in North Carolina to see my man last weekend, if that would've happened to me I would've freaked out..

Thanks, that's exactly what I plan on doing, unfortunately it is snowing here so I can't beat that argument. It's so frustrating..

Talk to them, but I assume that if they stopped visitation they will not allow it. Talk to them every single day...

I keep my fingers crossed that it works. So sad.

What a shame it may be worth calling them but in experience they care very little. The lock down may be for security reasons as officers may struggle to get into work in the bad weather. If they short staffed they will cancel visiting. I hope it works out for you.

Southern states have little experience with snow and ice, and lack the infrastructure to clear that snow and ice expediently. As a result, they are probably woefully understaffed today.

This really sucks for you, having travelled as far as you have. It sucks for all inmates expecting visits today. But, it is an Act of God event. Hopefully you can spin this around and extend your visit tomorrow when things should hopefully be cleared up a bit, or at least parlay it into phone visits or some other visit that is less taxing on a thin system yet accommodates you a bit better.

At least it wasn't a riot - those can take weeks and months to clear up with no visitation during those periods.

Still, hope you have other activities planned and they aren't shut down as well. You are seeing a Southern state trying to deal with snow - something you take for granted is a major debacle for them. Ugh.
