Default Transfer to Florida by Western union

Hi

I would like to use this topic for people who want to use to send money by WU to a Florida inmate.

I try some month ago to sent it from a Belgium agency, but it doesn't work. Probably because there is still no agreement.

I tried from Luxmbourg, and it work.
After reading other post on this forum, we can say that WU wwork for
France, Luxembourg, Germany, Netherland

don't work for
Belgium

If other want to inform for other country

Regards for everybody

Thanks Emmanuel. I stuck this thread so that people won't have to look for it all over the forum.

And here's the link to the complete procedure.

Hi Manu,

I looked up the WU homepage and found more than 100 agencies in Belgium. Maybe you will have to try different agencies. In Germany WU is available in post offices, American Express agencies, and at Reisebank agencies, but only the Reisebank offers the blue quick collect form you will need, the others don't. So maybe try another agency until you find one where quick pay is available.

I managed to send money to Illinois yesterday by phone. I got the number from the WU homepage and thought I'd give it a try. It was really easy.

Ok, this might be a stupid question, but can you Western Union money to anyone? I mean, surely they'd have to have a bank account in order for the money to be transferred - right/wrong?!! I want to send money to a friend in USA (not in prison) who has no bank account, so is it possible to still send it via my local WU agent?
Thanks!

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that one, sorry, but I think it's possible to send it over to await collection somewhere. I'm sure that's the way a friend used to get money to Jamaica. I'm sure someone will come along who knows or you could ring Western Union. The free phone number I use is 0800 833833.

Ok, back again with another question! I am due to fill out the WU form tomorrow to send money to someone in prison in Florida...so does it go like this:

doc#,surname, first name - where the form says 'account number'? Is that the correct order for how it should go on the form? Anything else I should watch out for?!

Thank you!!!!

I have to fill it out as follows:

Account: Illinois Department of Corrections (or whichever you're sending to)

City (sometimes called Locale): The prison name (eg Menard)

Account Number: Inmate's ID No. followed by last name only

Hope that helps.

OK, this is how it works. You have to fill in the Western Union Quick Pay form, the BLUE one.

Company name: Florida Department of Corrections.

Locale/Code City: FLDOC, FL

then your name addy, phone number etc then:

Account Number: DOC# Last Name

Hope that helps.

Thank you Phil and Rose - I actually called up the # you gave Rose and hopefully it all went through to Florida today.
