Here's a link to the Kentucky law that covers the requirements for Mandatory Reentry Supervision, Ky. Rev. Stat. § 439.3406.

HIP eligibility is supposed to be at 10 months before serve out date; MRS is supposed to be at 6 months before serve out, but they are often released at 8 - 9 months before serve out.

Hip, when offered to me a few years back was $5 per day; supervision fees vary, but I've never seen them higher than $25 per month + $10 per month drug testing fee (which is capped, when you hit whatever yours is capped at you no longer have to pay the $10).

Personally, I would turn down HIP and go for MRS HIP is gps / ankle monitor / tether; MRS is not.

If she's in on a PV, she will have to serve at least 6 months before she will be eligible for MRS. That said, MRS is 6 months from the minimum date minus the good time and work time that would accumulate during that 6 months so that's why it appears one is released 7-9 months instead of 6.

Since her start date was Feb, she won't be eligible to qualify for MRS until the end of this month. So her min date is May 2020 so subtract 6 months from that, as well as 7 days a month for those 6 months, could put her out in November perhaps.

Ah, but she'll know in October if she's made regular parole. If so, her release date will be Dec. 1st.

EDIT: I'm not sure how they work that....between regular parole and MSR (?)

It could be later than October. If she's an add-in to their already made up schedule, the board won't review her file until well into the 60 days.

EDIT: regular parole and MRS date: whichever is earlier.

Or probation violation. If she was given a probated sentence and then violated it, she has to serve 6 months before qualifying for MRS.

She will most likely not get out before then. She has to wait until she's either paroled or MRSd out. Is she taking any classes that will take 90 days off? That will help.

Default Halfway House

i have a question! Since I live in Maryland, my wife lives in Kentucky. My wife's case manager submitted a transfer application to MD. I wonder if she can live in a halfway house in Huntington, WVA, which is 9 miles away from Ashland, KY. or she has to live in a halfway house within KY?

If her Interstate Compact is approved, she wouldn't need to go to a Halfway House. She would parole to your place (I'm "assuming" your address was used for the Compact).

If the transfer to your house isn't approved, she'll have to go to a HH in KY and it may or may not be Ashland, not in W. VA.

Can I pick her up and drive her to her assigned HWH? (I truly am a newbie.)

Default HWH pickup

While I was in last year @ a county facility there was a guy who was being released & had his wife or gf pick him up & take him to the HWH... It was Oldham Co to Jefferson Co(Louisville). So it can happen.
