My po called back today. He said that he doesn't have any court ordered discharge papers or "closure documents " ,but he stated that my case was closed and was apparently "terminated ", so with that being said he can't do anything further with me, meaning any paperwork because I'm out of the system and that my file is placed under closed and terminated. He also said I might receive documentation in the mail . He said i could legally move out of state if I chose too ,because I asked about seeing family out of state.
Good signs I believe?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Hopefully?

And I asked if it's important to have this paperwork for any reasons if i travel and he said it's not important I'm out of the system and don't require any paperwork. The case is closed. He didn't say the judge signed it but made it sound like it's a done deal.......... any thoughts?

You are a free man! Congrats!
My son received paperwork from the judge in Nevada, who discharged him a year early. Who knows if all states do that. There are several POs here who will be able to tell you if you can get any paperwork and how to do it, but the bottom line is, you are off probation!! WOOT!

Was going to make a new thread but don't wanna spam this forum with a new thread thats VERY similar to this one. I was wondering how i obtain these papers? because i know i'm terminated from probation. Well, my probation officer said that in is own words... But it's been over a month and i didn't receive any paperwork, i called twice and they told me my probation officer would have the discharge papers. That they only receive discharge papers for EARLY termination. My probation officer said he does not have any paperwork and i'm not in his system, and he said he "believes" the court would have them. He didn't sound so assuring. But i know the court would have them because the judge obviously signs off on it. So the court doesn't know about it, my probation officer doesn't either. what do i do?
Did i call the wrong department at the court house? there are several sub-departments for criminal side of it. What can i do? i still want documentation.
I would start with reviewing your entire case file from the clerk of the court for wherever you were initially sentenced. If it isn't already there (if the judge had to sign off it would be), write a formal request to the clerk asking for documentation of your release from probation. If it doesn't exist anywhere, you may not get anything more than what you already have, the PO's word that you have been removed from the computer systems, but it will probably generate a reply of some kind.
If not, send the same thing to your judge with an explanation that the clerk didn't reply,

Called the clerk, and gave them my social # and everything. That they can't find my name.... And i gave them EVERYTHING. They said it all goes through probation not the courts. Might have to write out a request

Requests by phone never happened. It does not surprise me they claimed nothing by SSN since that isn't how most agencies identify records. The Cause Number is what they will need to speed processing. Make the request for file copies in writing or go in person to review the file as it is maintained in the Clerk's office. The Court won't have jack...they ONLY time they have paperwork is when the file has cause to be before the Court for some matter. Anything the judge signed off on or otherwise reviewed related to a particular Cause Number SHOULD be in the Clerk's file...

yea, I would not believe any probation officer. Hard for me to believe they would not file for probation violations. Its what they live for. Plus its their job security. Let us know what happens please.

All POs are not like that. There are quite a few that genuinely care about their parolees and want them to succeed. Their caseloads are already so large, why would they want to add to it, or increase their paperwork?

What did you find during your trip to the court? If your courts & probation system don't issue formal notifications that you have successfully completed your term of supervision, then that's the same for everyone, not just you.
If you are able to confirm that you are finished, after checking all of the things you have done, then that might well be all you will ever get. My guess is that both you, and your PO will be very pleased that you have been released from probation.
