Default Lorain Reception Center?

Hello, my fiance was sentenced today to 30 months. His lawyer has informed us that he will spend no more than 10 days in county and then be transferred to Lorain. Do they have a reception center at Lorain? I was under the impression everyone had to go to Orient. If anyone's loved one has gone through reception at Lorain, if you could provide me with any insight you have, that would be great. I'm still totally in shock and not sure what to expect.

Also, they have him in maximum security in county, does this mean he will have to go to a maximum security prison?

Please help!

Okay, so here's how it went for my fiance, Rob--

My fiance's sentencing date was on March 20th. Once they sentenced him, they took him straight to county. He was only at county until March 29th. Anyone in the Cleveland area will be shipped out to Lorain Correctional for in-processing/orientation or something along the lines of that. Rob has been there ever since. He actually just got classified to his parent institution today. He found out that his home instution will be @ Belmont Correctional Institution. There's no telling how long he'll be @ Lorain though 'cuz his cell mate was classified over 2 1/2 weeks ago & he's still there--so I guess they can go @ any given time...they just don't know when! It can get really frustrating @ times! But the good thing is that you'll be able to visit him while he's at LCI. I think there's a certain amount of time that he has to be there b4 he can start to have visits, but you'll have to call & find out. Here's the link to the facility below--I hope this helps!!!

By the way, I'm not sure how they determine what the security level of the prison will be--I think it has something to do with the class of their felony & degree of the crime, but that's just a guess.

Well, come to find out--

Rob hasn't actually been classified to his parent institution yet. He just happened to ask one of the C.O's if they knew where he would be going & they gave him a heads up because I guess the info was already processed into the system. However, I guess they have to get some kind of actual document sent to them b4 they're actually considered classified---So needless to say, there's no telling how much longer Rob will be at LCI

generally, they are at LCI for between 6-9 weeks. There is an overcrowding problem at all of the facilities so things can sometimes take longer.

they willnot tell you when he leaves county to lci and then from lci to his parent institution. you will have an idea but not down to the exact day.

Phones when he gets to lci are limited so write letters sand be patient. He will call when he can. They are on limited access when they first get there.

Visitation... he will send you the forms. Usually only family can go and they must be approved first. That will also take some time to get set up.

Actually at LCI they are aloud to have 1 friend on their list. Steve's been there since Feb. 24th. (a little over 9 weeks now) and he was classed a couple weeks ago to go to Lake Erie.

my boyfriend just got shipped there on the 23 . I think it really just hit me hard today that he is actually going to prison. I have been breaking down all day and I can't stop he was sentenced to a year but his mandatory sentence is 6 months. It really hurts me because he will miss his son being born and I'm scared to death of doing it on my own as I am going to be a first time mom, I'm not sure if Im strong enough to do this. Does anyone know if I can send him mail now even though he just got there on the 23. He is in the system and everything . Also can I send him envelopes with stamps on them or no?
