Default Mail being returned to me

I am so pissed. About 2 weeks ago my boyfriend was transferred from Harris County to another county jail due to overcrowding. Since then, he hasn't received any mail from me. So far I've gotten three of the letters I've sent returned back to me with a yellow "Return to Sender. Not Deliverable As Addressed, Unable to Forward" sticker. And I know it's likely all the others will be sent back too. I know he's not denying the letters, because all is fine with us and I get a letter from him almost everyday. I've called the jail multiple times and I'm using the right address, spn # and everything. They say they don't know why mail is being sent back.

Does anyone know why/how this could happen? Is it possible they put me on some kind of "block" list? Is this a post office issue? Any suggestions on what I can do? I'm broke so I can't put any money on the phone for him to be able to call. He hasn't heard from me in 2 weeks.

When my husband transferred from one county to the other, any mail that I sent to the first county was returned to me in Canada and not forwarded on to him and the second county was about 20 minutes down the damn road. It took over a month to get back here to me. Boy was I pissed. Sometimes counties will forward mail from one the other but I think it's more of a rarety than anything else.

That's the thing. I'm not sending it to the previous county; I'm sending it the new place he was transferred. The few letters that were already on their way to the old county did get forwarded to him at the new place. All the mail I've sent to the new county (and addressed to the new county) is what's being returned.

No, he's still there. Each time I've had a letter sent back, I call to check. Monday I'm going to stop by the post office to see if it's an issue on that side, and (if not) call the Warden. This doesn't make any sense. I'm quite sure he's probably thinking I decided to move on without him. I wish TDC would hurry and pick him up so at least letters will have a higher chance of getting to him (instead of having to deal with this stupid county in the middle of nowhere).

ETA: Oh yeah, he's processed in the new place. They even told me I could come visit him.

If he's in county you will be talking to the jail administrator or sheriff, not a warden.

If it is the yellow sticker that is on the mail that is a post office sticker and it is not even making it to the jail. If the address was a forward then instead of saying return to sender it would have the new address. I would take it to the post office and talk with a stupidvisor or call 1 800 ask usps

That's a post office issue. Not the jail. You will need to contact the post master for the post office that services the jail he is currently at. Going to your own post office won't do any good.

I called the post office that services the jail (and also called the jail and went to my local PO) to see if anyone can help. They don't know what's going on. The lady at the PO for the jail said it might be that the mail carrier is new and messing up somehow. She and the lady in the mail room at the jail suggested I send it through certified mail since the mailman will actually have to attempt to deliver it and have someone sign for it. So, we'll see. I really don't know what to do about this. I received a couple more of my letters back today. I also got a letter from him saying since it's been 2 weeks since he last heard from me, he guess I decided not to wait for him. :-(

Default Same thing happened to me

My daughter is in ADOC, was transferred from TN-I wrote her everyday and when I rec'vd letters from her she kept asking"Mom what have I done to make you not write me?" I called the mail room numerous times and they could not tell me anything, I went to the local post office and they were no help, all my letters came back and so did her Birthday card!
This is NOT my first rodeo-I was pissed to say the least!! After 3 weeks of her receiving any letters, 500 phone calls to the mail room, a call to the warden, like magic she received 3-5 at a time. I never did find out what happened, Good luck and don't worry-he will start receiving your mail when THEY get ready.

Thanks, goldenmom! It makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one who has experienced this. I know he's really hurt since he has no idea what's going on and hasnt had an update on our son in so long. Hopefully, he'll start receiving my letters soon.

I don't know if this is what you problem may be but I had things returned because the size was off, too small one time and off somehow in another case.I have gotten that" have I offended you, are you mad" letter too.

No, that couldn't have been the problem. My letters were written on regular notebook paper and in normal envelopes. My babe's no longer there but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the mail carrier who delivered to the unit.
