Lightbulb Support for Families of Inmates in Texas

Dear PTO Members:

If you or someone you know has a relationship with someone convicted of a crime in Texas, I'd like you to find out about an organization that can help.

We are the Texas Inmate Families Association (TIFA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group with 22 local chapters around the state.

Our purpose since 1996 is to serve, promote, and protect the interests of families who have a member subject to the criminal justice system in Texas.

TIFA's goals are to assist family members in understanding and dealing with the criminal justice system, to mitigate the effects of the system on the families of offenders, and to promote a more humane and effective criminal justice system through institutional and legislative
reforms.

TIFA operates to achieve its goals by forming local chapters where members can receive information and support; by working constructively with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Texas Board of Pardons and Parole, and other criminal justice agencies to identify and resolve
problems affecting the families of offenders; and by advocating positive change in the institutional rules and statutory law.

For more information, please visit our website and discussion group. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
