Life After an MWI Relationship Ends UPDATE
Well it's been awhile! For those that don't know me or don't remember, I was in a MWI relationship for about 4 years, but due to numerous reasons the relationship did not last long post-release. I took a few months away from PTO to really work on accepting that and moving on. It's now been over a year since we've broken up and I haven't seen him since. Anyway I just wanted to come back here because I love this little corner of the internet and I thought some of you might be wondering what happened.
At first I took the break-up hard, but now I'm in a much better place, sure he crosses my mind occasionally but I no longer have romantic feelings for him. I no longer hold on to the idea we will get back together one day, nor do I want to or think we should. I went through a period of being heartbroken and then I was just really angry at him, but now I'm like okay it's done and over with, time to keep it moving forward! I've decided to let the past make me better not bitter!
So now what? Well I'm 30, single and have no kids, there is nothing holding me back and I'm viewing this as a brand new chapter in my life with plenty of opportunities. I'm not totally sure what I'm doing but I'm figuring it out and just trying to enjoy life as best I can. I'm looking for a new job and I'm applying to grad school to get my masters.
The only sad part of my update is that in April my dog that I had for 16 years passed away, that was my buddy and he was with me over half my life so it was a painful loss. To be honest losing my dog hurt worse than my relationship ending, cause the reality is my MWI fooled me and never loved me unconditionally. I miss my dog but I don't miss my ex, I'm ready to let it all go and allow myself to be open to what comes next.
Thank you again to everyone who has offered me support, I'll never forget it! Prison doesn't play as big a part in my life now, I just have a few platonic pen-pals, but I'll still be around on here offering whatever I can to the PTO fam
Also, to those going through a break-up of any kind, I know it might feel like the pain will last forever but I promise it doesn't and life will go on! Let the past go (keep the lessons!!) and better days will come!

I thought the same thing! A year!
Honestly a ill jealous-- to be 30 and untethered but so grounded is an awesome place to be. You are doing amazing things. I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your dog, though. I lost my best friend a few years ago and it broke me. I never cried like I did when she passed. I think of her all of the time but it gets easier. Dogs are truly the best. If we were half the beings they are, this would be a much better world.

It does seem pretty wild that it's already been over a year! I'm just thankful to be bouncing back after all of that went down. I'm at the point where it almost feels like it never happened, like it was all some strange dream and now I'm just waking up to a brand new day.

My condolences on the passing of your dog
I'm pleased to hear that you're going for your Master's You'll meet new people, have new & unique experiences, and more doors of opportunity will open for you. Keep doing you, whatever that entails.
Thanks so much for the upbeat update and for staying here on PTO to help others

Happy New Year! Thought I'd pop on here quick to say hello and give an update! It's been a bumpy road but today is my first day of work at a new job and I just feel things are finally headed in a good direction! My MWI relationship ended but my life didn't. To anyone going through heartache, I can't tell you when it will get better, but I can tell you it eventually does!

Hey you - Happy New Year! So glad to hear you are doing well, and congrats on your new job I, too, will start in a new job on Monday and will be moving into a new apartment in February....so all in all, out with the old and in with the new I've also gone through a pretty rough time in the recent months, but now life seems lighter again....every new day is progress and the memories fade little by little. It's really a miracle how our hearts heal and I am so, so thankful for this.
Wishing you all the best
