How to clean oven window?

I am having a lot of problems trying to get the oven window clean: Windex doesn't work; soap and water isn't working; vinegar isn't either. Scouring pads are not supposed to be used as they can scratch the glass. Does anyone have a solution?

I have a steam cleaner and use that to clean the oven window.. it blasts the stuff right off!

same idea, but low-tech --put a large pot of hot water in the oven and turn it up for a while...then wipe away the grime.

Thank-you both. I am trying the hot water in the oven right now and if that doesn't work guess I will look into a steamer. I have been thinking of getting one for awhile now anyway.

Is it one of little portable ones like the Shark?

The one I have is a McCulloch. I ordered it from QVC on their website. It was under $45 including shipping and I LOVE it. I use it at home and work on the showers and bathtubs, in the kitchen on the stove and oven. I also use it to clean the litter box!
