Lightbulb Inmates injured on the job at BOP Industries jobs, e.g. UNICOR/FPI?

Hi everybody,

I'm a national investigative reporter for BuzzFeed News, a digital outlet that receives 200 million readers a month. I am looking into the health and safety situation at BOP Industries jobs, e.g. UNICOR/FPI, and I could really use some help. I have heard from many inmates and experts in the field that there are major issues with health and safety in these factories. I have heard about exposure to dangerous chemicals, unsafe handling of machinery and equipment etc. But it has been VERY hard to track down folks with personal experience.

Do you have a friend, relative, or acquaintance who has worked in UNICOR and who might be willing to talk to me? Or do you have any knowledge or thoughts on this issue? If so, please reach out here on Prison Talk or have your BOP inmates email-request me through my email address, daniel.wagner@buzzfeed.com. If they want to write letters, they can send to:

BuzzFeed Prison Project
1630 Connecticut Ave., 7th Floor
Washington, DC 20009

I also have created a survey about these issues and have been mailing multiple copies to all of the federal inmates I can identify who work for UNICOR now or did so in the past. If you think your loved one might be willing to get these surveys into the hands of other folks who can help, I would be grateful if you could pass along their names.

I'm really hoping this community is in a position to help me connect with the right people. I need badly to prove that this is a big enough problem to merit the large amount of time I have been spending on it

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to hearing from some of you.

Dan Wagner
