Default No phones in TDCJ?

Someone posted a question about when phones will be installed in TDCJ. Are you saying that facilities in Texas don't have phones? My boyfriend is in Harris County but he will be transferred to TDCJ soon probably. No phones? 2008? what took so long?

right now inmates are allowed one five minute collect call every 90 days. they are bidding out the contract- deadline is sept 1st to award it so prob no phones for 6 months or so after untill they get them installed.

what took them so long? ummm...being decades behind the times is SOP for tdcj!

Brite is right except I don't have high hopes of 6 months like she does. :-) I'm thinking maybe another year but who knows. It will be interesting to see what they say at the next PACT conference.
