Default Sentencing date changed yet again

The stress is really getting to me bit time. My son was supposed to be sentenced back in Feb then changed to May then again to Aug, Sept and just changed again to Oct. I know it's good because he is home a little longer but I also feel I want this over with ASAP. I do know we are looking for at least 5 years and the 3 years he has spent on house arrest will not count towards that 5 years. It's just so frustrating.

Ugh! Has anyone bothered themselves to tell you why the sentencing phase is taking so long? Its been my experience that once a plea is agreed upon or a verdict rendered the sentencing part is pretty quick I hope the sentencing isn't delayed after October....once you get that behind you, the rest of journey levels out a tad & everyone gets into a routine.

That is CRAZY.
Why so long???? I wonder. Seems abnormal to me.
Hub plead guilty in I think Nov. Was sentenced (after two delays) sometime in Feb)
Understandable due to holidays.

This is not unusual for federal charges especially since he is not in a detention center or jail. I understand it is stressful, but the courts either don't see it that way or they don't care.

I remained in county jails for 12 months after sentencing.

My son is receiving counseling and I believe the judge and our lawyer want him to get more sessions under his belt before he goes in. It's just so frustrating. We just found out about this last delay on Friday and he was due for sentencing on Wed so less than a week's notice.

Hello! I just want to stop in, say hello and let you know you are not alone!

My son has been incarcerated for a year, this month. It has been a crazy year. I am looking back on the year and it's a bazarro state of mind for me. I am trying to remember when he finally, sounds odd to say, finally landed where he is now. I will have to ask him. I haven't been able to visit this month b/c of the weather in NC. The visits and phone calls suspended. This coming up weekend visits might be allowed, but I won't be available to visit. Looks like the next time I will see him will be first weekend in October.

Hang in there, keep calling, keep visiting, write letters! We are their advocates. We cannot turn away!

Delays of sentencing can be good things. Since the judge and your lawyer are the reason for the most recent delay, successfully completing his counseling might even result in a shorter sentence for your Son.
