Default What kind of woman marries a man behind bars?

I read this article and wanted to share it with you ladies.

What kind of a woman marries a man behind bars? This is the first question people generally ask when they learn about someone who has married an inmate. People typically assume that women who marry men behind bars have something innately wrong with them. A mental or emotional disorder of some kind....

I love that article because I hae heard it all and have walked away from people because of the judgements. Also if you live it you know you can not be weak to be an inmates wife. Not only do we hold down the house but we also have to keep our loved ones spirits up too. thank you for posting the article...

Although I wont be a woman who marries a man behind bars, I think this is a great article! I've met so many wonderful women on this site who have or will be marrying their man while behind bars, and it's so great to see that someone knows the truth! So many of you are independant, strong and beautiful women...and I've been blessed to have traded a comment or two with each of you! I am glad we're passed all the stereo-typical comments! I just wish this message was sent out to all the family and friends of those who don't approve of inmate relationships!!!
Thanks for sharing this great article! =)

It is about time someone wrote a positive article about those of us who marry men behind bars. I was very impressed with this. If only everyone could see that we are NOT trash, desperate or any of the other stereo typical things people tend to think. We are STRONG, intelligent women who happen to love someone behind bars............

They can say what they want but as for as my situation it is different...I didn't meet him as a penpal, and he wasn't the only man who has ever dreamed of marrying me...my FREE ex wanted to marry me,he wasn't real...so I found my person just so happen to be he wasn't free but oh well...a place is just a moment held down its not forever, a lifetime married and happiness is what is forever.

the same that will marry a free man,i believe in destiny and whatever is destined for us is what will happen, SOME people are ignorant always thinking that were sick ,low self esteem they can't grasp that IT JUST HAPPENS AND IT'S NOTHING EXTRA-ORDINARY THINGS JUST HAPPEN WHEN THERE SUPPOSE TOO AND THAT'S IT

Being married to an inmate is different kind of love song, but the melody remains the same...

I like that article. That last line said it all.
Being married to an inmate is different kind of love song, but the melody remains the same...
I'm about to marry a man that makes me feel more whole than any man on the outside ever did ,and I love him beyond reason. The typical person on the outside looking in wouldn't understand as I too have endured the judgemental comments and sneers from those that dont understand. Luckily I'm a stand strong person for what I believe in,or as my baby calls it "I'm stubborn as all hell and hard headed!"lol. Thanks for the article!

This was a really good article! Some of the responding articles were a little less flattering and I tend to have a big mouth so I had to write one of my own! lol I'm going to print them off and send them to Justin to show him, I think he'll get a kick out of them!

I will answer this short and sweet, I know this is a older thread.

"A woman that marries a man behind bars, is one that was with him prior to the bars, or the one who loved him before the bars. Or was married to him before the bars, whichever is greater
