I have found the best way for me to lose weight is to stop eating just as I start to feel kind of full.I have the hardest time keeping weight off.Good luck on your diet!

Hi Octobriana
I have lost about 65 lbs believe me it has not been easy. Because when I feel stressed I go for the comfort. Which is all the bad stuff. And, I have been very stressed lately. Like most of the people on here. But I go workout at "Curves". It is an all women gym. No need to look cute there lol. It is a 30 min workout and when I do it I feel really good. I can't do the Atkins because I like my carbs to much. I love pasta etc. So I try to watch how much I am eating. Good luck

I WAS on a low fat,low protein, high carb diet.It basically followed the food group pyramid lower in fat, protein and higher in carbs, fruits and veggies.I lost 40 pounds in about 7 months .Unfortunatly right now I have lost motivation and have gained a little back! But that did work really well for me.It was a program through Kaiser medical called "Healthy Ways"
I need a kick start again so I am considering trying the diet pill Trimspa but I am not sure,I don't like to take stuff like that I just may go back to trying to eat the way I was on that program.
Good luck

Hi octobriana, I don't diet anymore but I used to. I'm in pretty good shape and here's what I do. I drink a cup of tea about 1/2 hr. before dinner (in order to make me feel fuller). I eat only one plateful, no seconds (I heard Jacqueline Onasis in an interview say this was her secret). I try to walk for about 1/2 hr. a day but rarely make it every day. I also do about 80 situps almost every day (this makes my clothes fit better). The best part is that I eat or drink whatever I want - but I do it only in moderation. I have to say too that I don't buy junk at the grocery store but that's mostly cause I can't afford it. I screw up every once in a while - like when I made peanut butter cookies and almost ate the whole batch!

I am working out at Curves also, 4 or 5 days a week. I REALLY like it. I've been going for a month and just eating in a more healthy way. Lost 9 pounds. Now I feel like it's time to get a more formal diet in gear... maybe weight watchers cause it's worked for me before -- guess my ego is too big to show up for a weekly weigh-in without a loss, lol!

Actually the Atkins diet isn't expensive.. Pretty much all I eat now is tuna with mayo, chicken, steak, hamburger, eggs, and cheese.. I love cheese so I eat alot of it. I have done this before and lost 30 lbs. doing it. But over the last few months really ate way too much and gained.

If I eat alot of carb loaded stuff I feel yucky.. so the total protein route does it for me.. I will slowly introduce healthy carbs back into my diet but for right now keeping away from them - I do eat about a salad or broccoli every day.... with ranch dressing - yumyum.. and I drink diet coke with lemon or lime in it... It works - so far - one week I have lost 5 lbs....

Good luck..

Im following the Body for Life program and I have lost 50 pounds. With this program you eat every two or three hours, small meals with both carbohydrates and protein and to two of these meals you eat vegetables too. You also exercise 6 days a week. One day of the week you rest from the exercise and eat whatever you want. I have tried many diet programs before, but this is the best I have ever done.

I have been trying to eat healthier, not really so much to lose weight. But I have been dropping pounds. I've been reading labels and just paying more attention to what's in foods. And I love sweets, so I eat them, just a taste though and that seems to curb my craving without going overboard.

eating healthy... one day all fruit except banana... next day all veggies that you want with vinegar, mustard ... next day all fruit and veggies... i am surprised how filled up i get... lots and lots of water... then chicken, beef, fish and veggies for the next 4 days to follow... i lost interest in regular soda and goodies at night... i drink diet soda, have a yogurt or a piece of turkey at night...
now joining lucielle roberts on thursday... i can't wait to get off 30 lbs and tone up then i will be set...

I am doing the low carb thing. I am slowly trying to work to no carbs, but it is hard. I still watch my fats and sugars also, but I try to get a little more protein in. I feel much healthier this way. I am trying to get off those extra pounds I gained since he has been gone. I have a walking tape that I do as well.

I was doing good in the summer also, then slacked off big time. Now I am going back to the gym, I ordered "the Firm". Those tapes kick my a$$ in 15 mintues or less. I don't eat much breakfast so I do the slim-fast thing. the shakes I love and stuff it takes a bit to get use to them. I get headaches really quickly. I tried the atkins but I found that I love my carbs and I don't eat much of nothing without them. I just wish us all good luck!

As the weather gets warmer, I can't eat hot foods. I usually walk around with carrots or some kind of vegetable to munch on. But as soon as it starts cooling down, I pack the pounds back on. I wish I could maintain all year long. Atkins costs an arm and a leg and I usually stop eating when I feel full.

Diet? let's see.... I'm in the same boat, I need to lose alot of weight. I've had 3 surgeries on my spine in the past 4 years and let me tell you having to be very inactive for that long really makes you pack on the pounds no matter what you eat! lol! As for diet advice, low carb is good but do not cut out carbs completly. Coming from a medical perspective ,I've taken alot of med based classes for my addictions counseling degree, your body needs the carbs. Granted other organs will use the carbs your body stores, but your brain won't it has to have fresh carbs in order to function properly. for myself I do low carb, take vitamins. carb cutter pills and I take chitosan pills which binds the fat in the foods you eat. I try to get on the tread mill for 20 minutes a day, usually right before bed, and do sit ups and a little weight training. Pilates is really good too. I'm going to take up kickboxing, it's supposed to be really good exercise. Oh yeah , I stopped drinking soda pop completly and lost 10lbs from doing that alone. There ya go, just a few more suggestions to help out!

I have tried alot of different diets & alot of diet pills, which don't work for me. I did also try the "TRIMSPA" ones they seemed to kinda work but I think it was just me wanting them too. LOL.

Anyways the best diet I have been on and am still on is the "Kelloggs" cereal diet. I have lost a total of 11 pounds =) I lost 7 in just the first 2 weeks. It is the easiest diet and the best diet I have ever been on!
PM me if any of you want anymore info. on it.

Lovin, I've not lost 40 pounds, though I have lost 16 pounds (gained one today.) and 12 inches since January. I've done so with exercise, drink lots of water (had to cut out my coke), and eating better. I went to GNC and saw this program I wanted to get, but they were all out of it. So I talked to the manager and he gave me a few things: Thermonex (raises metabolism) El-Carnitine (not quite sure of the spelling, but it's close. This is a mineral found in red meat that helps burn fat, I don't eat red meat), and a multi-vitamin.

Now your b-day is about two months away and I don't know that it's really feasible or healthy for you to lose so much weight in such a short amount of time. The first week it's okay to lose 5 lbs, but after that only 1-2 lbs a week is healthy.

angelbaby,
yeah thats what i heard but then i was watching the extreme makeover and other shows where these people lost like 10lbs in a week and a half and i wonder. maybe this miracle will happen to me, but i know realistically that its like 1-2lbs a week i lost 3 lbs but i just wish it would go faster

I completely hear ya on that! I would love to wake up tomorrow and be a size zero! That would be great and I'd have my baby with me too. Sometimes reality just plain sucks!
