Terminal cancer patient denied pardon in South Carolina child's killing

LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) — "Authorities say a 28-year-old South Carolina woman serving a life sentence for beating to death a child she was babysitting has been denied parole even though she said she has less than a year to live after being diagnosed with cancer."

She could try for Compassionate Release, but seeing that she's only 1 year into her sentence I doubt even that would be approved.

Compassionate release is harder to obtain in South Carolina than probation or parole.

Maybe because of her charge she beat a kid to death imagine what the family of the baby would feel if she was free i mean i have kids and i could not imagine the pain the family dealt t with

There are people here who have served 40 years of life sentences, been model offenders and so forth and the parole board have turned them down.

We speak of giving second chances but that's the least of what we grant those who are incarcerated.
