Default new visitation rule for all wv prisons until futher notice (concerning minors)

my husband just read a memo from the main head commissioner of West Virginia department of corrections

until further notice no visitation will be permitted for any reason to a person under the age of 18 years old if someone comes for visitation with a minor they will be turned away

I was just told about this today too. It is a really crappy time of year for this to happen with the holidays. Hopefully it will be lifted before Christmas time.

From what I was told it is because of the swine flu...was that your understanding?

Official word from the Central Office in Charleston is that it is because of concerns regarding H1N1, since they do not plan to offer that vaccine to the inmates.

I had visitation a few months ago, then found out the next week I had H1N1. Fortunately it didn't break out in the prison!

It means that no children will be allowed to visit until after the quarantine is lifted. It may or may not be sooner than March.
