I agree about In the Meantime. Sometimes, a little bit out of the Bible helps, too, although I know that doesn't work for everyone.

I was surfing for literature, for my daughter, who is incarcerated in Oklahoma, till February of 2024. (I get sick every time I type that.) I found a book in pdf format that was published by the "Coalition For Woman Prisoners". Maybe someone will find it of interest. ...

Thumbs up Women Who Love Too Much

Women who Love Too Much by Robyn Norwood. This is a fabulous book which I encourage all of you that are reading this thread to look at. It has REALLY given me a lot of insight as to why I am the way I am and how to stop my patterns. You can buy it on Amazon cheap for about $9.00 (used).

I just ordered "It's called a break-up because it's broken" by Greg Behrendt (author of "he's just not that into you"). I've heard good things and it seems funny which is what I need right now!
Anyone read either of these books?

LOL yeah thanks LadyBell, I wish it was that easy. Luckily I'm in a very good loving relationship right now. But for the times I was broken hearted, visualizing them buried in my backyard was more healing.

The Bible is pretty helpful for me
Forgiveness is choosing to love. It is the first skill of self-giving love.

Obsessive Love: When It Hurts Too Much to Let Go by Dr. Susan Forward is a wonderful book for anyone, male or female, stuck in the grieving process of a failed relationship and finding it hard to believe it's over. It's available in hardback or paperback for under $12. You can find it online, at regular bookstores, and at discount bookstores.

These books helped me learn how not to fall again for behaviors that my ex demonstrated. Our breakup blindsided me and left me dumbfounded, but after reading about some of these behaviors the breakup made more sense.

When I started loving me, I stopped loving my ex husband! It didn't hurt and I was not angry at him! Funny now, for years before I walked away and starting loving me I was so angry, but at myself! I read every book I could get my hands on! Codependent letting go, may not be the name was the best one ever! It released me from prison! Self induced kind!

Some of the books that have helped me through the rough patches are:

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
The Language of Letting Go by Melody Beattie

I've been reading "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's about one woman's spiritual journey after her divorce and an affair she had. I'm loving it. No, I haven't seen the movie... because as I'm reading this book, I really wonder how they can make a movie about what goes on inside a woman's head and heart
I'm complicated... and complicated can be fun.

One book in particular that I have found helpful is "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz. It's a short little paperbook, you could probably read it in a day or so, but I always find myself re-reading it for a little pick me up.

Hey ladies. My MWI was a sociopath which includes a lot of inmates. One of the best books I have read so far was "The Sociopath Next Door" written by Martha Stout, Ph. D. I found it on Amazon.com and it can be downloaded to your Kindle. The real kicker for me was where it states that sociopaths aren't people to fear because they may hurt you. The main thing they do is play the pity play. They make you feel sorry for them. That is what my MWI did and that is why so much money was spent on him until I realized it was all a pity play.

Default Another Good Book

If you are religious and believe in the power of God, then this is a very good book for you ladies. It is called "Captivating" by John and Stasi Eldridge. It explains what a woman should be in God's eyes. It's not putting us down for anything we are or have been doing. It only explains what we have suppressed all of lives and the what we really should expect. It also can be gotten from amazon.com and can be downloaded to your Kindle.
