Default Long over-due update:

My life has taken a pretty unexpected turn and I am feeling, I don't know, like I belong out here now or something. It has been a very long time since I have posted, and I saw that I hadn't been on in almost a year and a half, so maybe I'll just give a brief overview.

I was released in June 07', discharged in 09' with no violations. Was released to a halfway house initially, and then made small jumps to better places, until I had my own apartment.

My first job was as a dishwasher in a catering service. I was 34 years old, learned Auto Mechanics and Sawmill work in prison, but could only get a minimum wage dishwasher job. After obtaining a little time on a job, I was given a chance in a factory. Made better money, bought a car, and all before I got off parole.

But, of course that wasn't fast enough for me, so I had some adjustment issues. Alot of them, actually. I won't bore you with the details, my posts are still up. I was a little, "un-adjusted"? Defiantly ANTI adjusting, yet too stubborn to commit a crime?

I look back at that time and shake my head at some of the stuff I just refused to let go of, those things most detrimental to my staying free, yet they were also the things I loved the most. Anger, attitude, respect, personal space. All that bs that keeps the drama stirred and the tensions high. Yet, I did not want to go back to prison. It was like I was locked into some self destruct mode, but for some damn reason I just couldn't bring myself to catch another case.

Got married to my MWI penpal, who rode with me the last 4 years or so. Moved to her country. twice. I have been here since fall 2011, and I feel like this is my home now. Things have been good with jobs and no real issues with anything until this year.

I ended up having a health scare, caused by stress. All the go-go-go, working overtime and stressing about work burned me out. Lost so much weight I was "medically underweight" and couldn't leave the bed for almost a week. Luckily I have decent benefits with my union because I missed almost 4 months of work over it. I am better now, I had to leave that job though. And I'm not even mad.

I have come to a point in my life where I want to enjoy my life. It doesn't make sense to kill myself stressing about how much money I can make for someone else. My new job is alot less stressful, is close enough that I can walk to work, and is in a similar industry so I understand what is going on.

Sometimes, it takes me by surprise when I think of where I come from. I am nobody special. If you read my previous posts you will clearly see that I am a bit of an a$$hole, stubborn, wrong-headed, and judging from the things I said/say....I could be crazy/possessed/remote controlled/or just a freaking idiot. Oh yea, and I have the f-ing vocabulary of an f-ing prisoner. Yet, I am still free.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and tell you that if I am still here, it is possible for anyone. My best wishes to you all.

Lovely to hear from you, Erinmichaels!!

You had some tough growing-up to do and you've done a whole lot of it, so I think congratulations are definitely in order, so here you are -

You guys are too cute!!

It's been a joy to hear the various updates, the struggles, the successes.

And thank you, very, very much for coming back for so many years, with deeply thought out understandings of your experiences and the work you had to do to make those successes real.
