How does the phone system work at DRDC?

Can anyone tell me how the phone system works? My son's girlfriend told me that MCI called saying my son tried to call her. Is this true? He has only been at DRDC on week Wednesday. How long does it take to truly get approved on his phone list? When should I expect to hear from him?

Any info would be terrific and also how does money on his books work?

If that's the recording received, then his phone list has been approved...that is the phone system they use, and the numbers on their list are pre-programmed into their (CDOC) system. You hear a recording from that tells you to push '5' to accept the call, and there are other option to block calls, etc. but I don't listen for those. You can talk for 20 minutes and then you're cut off...the phone list follows them to whatever facility they are transferred, however, the visitor list has to be done at the new facility.
You should be able to visit your son, after 7 days, I believe, if you're on his visitor list, but only immediate family, so his girlfriend won't be able to yet...
