Hello, my friend recently went to county because she had an open federal case. I dont know full details because I wasn't at her court date when she was taken in but 2 days after being detained she was taken by the U.S Marshalls to the Metropolitan Detention center. Im trying to find out any info on her such as court date, public defender name or anything besides just were she is being held. Is there any way to get that info. She has not called and I have no experience with federal cases. Thank you
You can create a PACER account. Just remember you get charged per SEARCH. If it’s an extremely common name and you don’t limit your results, a screen will say (a large search result may appear). That’s a hint. Go back. Don’t do it. People have talked about hundreds of dollars in fees. So just be careful.

Thank you. So if I search for her and lets say 10 results come up I will be charged 10 cents for each of those results??

Pacer has a minimum quarterly bill cutoff, so if you don't exceed it ($25.00 ?) during the current 3 month period, they won't even send you a statement.
I doubt PACER fees will exceed $35 which is the free amount.
After you register, go to the Court in her area, type in her name and get her number. Her Case will come up and you can check Docket Report. That will tell her charges, her lawyer, dates of future hearings (if they are set), bond request and more. If you want to follow up later, just put the dates after the day you first looked. If you look at the filings it can get expensive, but at this stage of the game, there probably won't be much.
There is also a free limited program called Pacer or Recap. But nothing shows up there until a Recap user looks at the case.

If the quarterly charge is under $35, you will still get a statement, but it will say "total under $35, written off, balance due $0". Next quarter charge starts at $0.
Good luck!
