I haven't ever used Moneygram. And along with WU, you can use JPay. It's really a matter of preference. No matter which one used, the money is received w/in a similar time frame. A few hours to a day? I really don't know anymore.
You also have the option of sending a money order through JPay. Money orders now have to be sent to Florida and it takes 10 days or more for the money to be applied to their books. That's the option that I use. I long ago got tired of shelling out the extra money for the transfer fee.
Again, it's really a matter of preference. I would suggest researching which option would be best for you.
I have used Jpay to send money to an inmate at the Logan Correctional Center.
I sent $20 and the fee added on was $4.95. When I sent $100 the fee was $7.95
The money is available to them quickly and the online transaction is easy.
If you can send a check or money order it might be cheaper, but it takes a while for the money to become available. This would be tolerable if you were setting up a recurring transfer, but if you need to get the inmate funds right away I would recommend Jpay.
