Hi guys. I am sorry to hear that your loved ones are so far away. I know the feeling, I am in Texas and my mom was in Florida for 8 months. After several phone calls to her counselor and about 10 letters to the Florida prison they moved her to Bryan Texas. I feel very fortunate and I will keep you all in my prayers that you be united with your loved ones soon.

Mine will be going to LEE USP in a couple days. I am looking for someone in NC or SC that might want to travel together.

Cool

The man I love is in Coleman FCC, Coleman Florida. He will be there for approximately 9 months. He has been gone since Sept. 4. It sucks, but I am hanging in there.

My baby is at the FDC Honolulu it is right next to the Honolulu International Airport and I hear once there sentenced they will go to the mainland somewhere but I also heard they can put in a request for a certain federal prison but its not sure if thats were they'll go
Does anyone have an answer on that one?

Kalei151 - you can request a specific facility but it is totally up to the BOP as to where you are assigned. There is no magic formula that decides your location. It is fairly simple. Where there is a bed on that day, that's where they designate you. The 500 mile rule really has no application anymore since the federal prisons are now 40% over capacity and under the Senate version of the budget, 15 of those will be closed resulting in at least a 55% over capacity figure for all federal facilities. Hi All, I am new here, so not real sure what all goes on. My daughter Billie is in Tallahassee, Fl. I have only been able to see her one time in almost 12 years. As I live in Oklahoma, so much for this 500 miles. But we do still get to talk when she can get a phone and has the money. I pray for everyone who has a Loved one so far away. I wish to thank all of you who has made this site. It helps so much.
May the Lord be with each and everyone of you.

Jody

Welcome to PTO Jody!

Many feel the same way about the "500 mile" thing. It really does make things hard. But we all will get through this!

I am glad you are with us...hope you enjoy our company!

Default USP ATWATER

THANK GOD there is a place here for federal inmate's loved ones.
The BOP is a WHOLE other story.
My husband is in USP ATWATER in CALIFORNIA>
and our son and I are in NEW MEXICO

I only have been able to make one trip to see him. Cost me over $600 dollars, and when I got there they refused to let me visit because of false results from the electronic drug test- iontrack.
Anyone else had this problem?
It was a visit for Christmas, and it almost did both of us in, it was all that kept us going for so long- the hope of that visit.

The BOP is a WHOLE other story!
And thats why this area is offered on PTO!
Welcome to PTO!

I am sorry to hear about your attempted visit. its a shame they force us to travel so far then turn away those for these iontrack test that have been proven bad over and over! there are some post here on this topic. Try to do a search on it and see if you come up with anything. If you need help please let me know.

Default Ion Scan

We've had lots of ion scan problem reports out of Atwater. It is very common for it to occur there. We are putting together a list and will be filing a complaint and requesting action from the BOP. Let me know if you want us to include your incident. Karen

My son is at USP Beaumont and we are originally from Kansas and I currently live in Missouri.

Other than Kintml2u and myself I haven't seen anyone else from there! Hard to believe we're the only ones!

PTO has definitely saved my sanity and all the good people here...God Bless Us All.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all!

Bonnie

My loved one is in Pollock, LA and is due to be transferred soon, hopefully to Butner, NC which is much closer to me because I live in Charlotte, NC-the drive will still be almost 3 hours but I haven't seen him since 1996 so it will be worth it!
