Default He has to take classes and they keep getting cancelled!

I am getting a little irritated because John has to take this class, fine he's taking it, but the instructor keeps cancelling class and the longer it takes for him to take this class the longer it will take him to get home.
Last night I think he was more annoyed than I was about it, but the more I got to thinking about it the more annoyed I became. I think if they are there and they are taking the class then the instructor should have to give the class. They get punished if they miss class so why should they get punished if the instructor keeps cancelling the class too. UGH!
It should be that if they call off a class then they should do like out here if you are in college. They don't make the class twice as long, they make them do more work or they skip some things.
Anyone else had this problem?

He calls it his calm class. I guess it is an anger management class.

Ok, think about what you are saying. It's ANGER management! LOL This is part of the class. Can he take the canceling without getting angry? Don't let him fall for the trick. JMO

He doesn't get mad, just irritated like me. He just wants to come home and the longer the class take the longer it takes him to come home. I want him home. I will play warden for a while. HeHeHe

I agree....I think they should hold the instructor responsible the same way they hold the students

To give the instructer the benefit of the doubt, maybe he has a really good reason for canceling. I know that when my grandma was sick in the hospital weeks before she died. It seemed like every other night I was canceling plans and school because the doctor said she wouldnt make it through the night. But she did and I was there each time, all but for the time when she didnt make it. I was out drinking my sorrows away when I should have been near her. Nothing should have taken me away from her bed. And not a day goes by where I dont regret that. All Im saying is that maybe the teacher has a good excuse. If not then yes, I would hold him responisble as well.

From what John says there is another counselor that could be holding the class and she isn't for some reason. I'd love to give this first counselor the benefit of the doubt, but it sucks for every class that is cancelled he has to stay one more day to make up the class. It is such a crock.

Thats the crappy part of it.. someone else can be doing their job but they aren't. I wonder why that is. Is he able to look into that?

He basically just wants to come home so he says very little so he can take the class and leaves it at that. Like I always tell him just stay cool, get through their little class and once you are home that can't say nothing about it and he can just leave it all in the past.

Very good point!! Maybe it is a test.. part of the "waiting" for this class. He'll stay cool.. don't worry. He's just anxious to get home to you!

I am so glad I got my man out of Clarinda! They sent him to the Lodge with no possibility of taking his class there. Once I complained to the right person, he was transferred to Rockwell City within 2 weeks. His class ends in April.

Does your man only have to take that class and he could be paroled? You can get a pre-release date prior to finishing the class. My hubby is requesting it at the end of February through his counselor for early release in April. It's a long shot but it's worth a try.

When he talked to the counselor before the class started the counselor had said he needed to take the class and he could be home in 4-6 months, well the class is 4 months long so I am thinking sometime this summer hopefully. Regardless he doesn't have much time anyway. Around a year if he went full amount until parole date. So we are still sitting pretty decent either way, but I do prefer he comes home this summer. Put his butt to work around the house with the remodeling stuff.

Greeniys - how does your husband like Rockwell City? Mine is at Clarinda now, but we're wanting to try and get him moved to RC eventually. He's a lifer, so getting him to a minimum security would be awesome!!

Great news, I found out on our visit he doesn't have to make up the classes. I guess it is up to the instructor and this one said they don't have to make them up. YEAH!
