Holidays can slow things down, substitute guards and counselors filling in for each other's position as they go on vacation. Sorry to hear about the rude counselor, it's not right, some are that way, but not all. Firecamp placement might be slowing it down, perhaps less space and beds available then in GP. Firecamp is good for him, worth the wait if he gets there.

If he's seen the counselor, then they are probably waiting for a bed to open up at the security level he's been placed at. It took a while for my son to get placement after he was seen. I think they are over-crowded again.

Being in reception that long is very frustrating. (my hub was as well....13 months) tho its not the usual time frame. Back then they didnt get ANY phone calls. Sucked big time.

Calling does nothing. Dont even bother. (sorry but its true)
He can try to 602 it, but I dont even know if that will move things along either.
Hopefully soon he will know where he's going.
Fire camp would be a plus.

Im sorry its taking so long. Very hard to deal with the uncertainty.

My hub didnt qualify as his charge was a sex offense
He may have even tho he was a level 2 as well but due to the charges, he couldnt.

602 is a form within the prison. Its sort of a complaint form. (for lack of a better word)

Endorsing means they've chosen ("endorsed him for") one or two options (prisons) for where he'll be going after his reception. Transfer will take place once a bed becomes open at the facility he's been endorsed for.

I think it means that he's seen the counselor and been assigned a security level.

Hi jayvama. For visiting try to get there 30 minutes early prior to your appointment. Sometimes they have lockdowns and take long so itís good to be there on time. Processing takes 20 min depending how many appointments there is. Mail is taking 7-12 days to get to the inmates. My fiancť gets my mail Iím 5-7 days because I put it in priority mail. Has your bf hit mainline yet?

Hey - sorry it's taking so long for him to mainline If he's already been endorsed and is basically ready to go then all I can guess is that maybe the place he's headed to doesn't have free beds yet... Fingers crossed he'll be moved soon!

Just fyi.
Mail takes how long it takes. Does not matter if its priority or express. It takes however long it takes. express will go to the facility faster but once its in the prison mail room, it takes as long as they want it to.
Im not saying they just let it sit but its got to be looked at, then sent to the proper yard, then distributed.

Second, on visits.......if you are approved you need an appt for visiting someone in reception. Ive not done the vpass thing or even know if Wasco uses vpass so you would have to check.
And the phones are hardly ever answered. You might have some luck if you call very early in the morning if you are trying to reach a human.

Now if someone as stopped writing it could be for any number of reasons. Maybe he needs stamps or paper or an envelope. Maybe he's working now and does not have as much *free time* If he's in reception they usually dont get to make phone calls but Ive heard they changed that and they will get a chance (but I dont know how many per week, month etc)
If they are on lockdown they may not be allowed to use the phones.

You might check the inmate locator to double check his status if he's still at Wasco. .......If he is, they are probably just on lockdown

Sorry for how frustrating this is and sorry it took a while to answer some of the questions.

.
Wasco reception allow one phone call per month, and usually it's right in the beginning of each month - like maybe 1st to 5th...but of course there are exceptions

I think mail at Wasco has gone worse - my guy isn't in the reception anymore (other yard at WSP) but it's taken up to two weeks for him to get mail that used to take 4-5 days.

yeah delaying of mail just stinks.
I found that either post cards or very large envelopes seem to be processed faster than regular letter mail.

Hi there - where is your son currently? If he's at Wasco Reception (as per this thread) I don't believe it's possible he's taking classes, those (and getting credits for classes) start after reception when he's been classified and sent to his 'home prison'. My apologies if I misunderstand you
