Default Letters

Find out if you can enclose a stamped, addressed envelope so they can write back. Write on 1 side & try to finish with just 1 or 2 words on the last page. This means they have paper to write back to you (all the back sides) and a page for someone else.

Enclosing clippings from magazines/newspapers is bad. If you want to send them, send in another letter with a note 'to cheer you up'.

Be sensible, write only in English, don't use slang (however well known you think it is), no bad language, don't discuss case or anything associated.

There IS a limit on pages (don't write a book!) but do try to make it something that can be enjoyed a second time. I used to send a friend quotes by comedians.

Your best bet is to ring and ASK what is allowed. Of course, a postal order is the most useful thing, even if it's £5. Search the site below with how to send £.
