Default Power outages

If you have not already heard....power is scheduled to be cut for many counties of California.
They say they dont know how long it will last so who knows.
I'd bet they have generators at the prisons, but not sure how long that is gonna hold out.
Anyone heard anything yet?

Interesting thought. I read the Santa Ana winds will last 24 to 48 hours and most of the planned outages will be in Northern California. Prisons must have generators and if any are in potentially affected areas they will know they could lose power and be planning for it. I'm betting it will not be a problem. We'll see but it's not something they'd normally worry about.

I was checking the maps to see about my cousin (who is in Eldorado county) and they are out.
It also showed Tehachapi as going down sometime today as well which is much farther south.
Its odd. Im in Sonoma county (location of the very destructive Tubbs fire) and they have shut down schools for today and maybe tomorrow.
my are there are many who are scheduled to be without power, but on the map, we are ok. About 2 blocks over, my ex hub is gonna lose power. My sister (who's now living in the path of the fires from 2017) is out.

the weather is not too bad, nor the winds down here in the valleys. But they gotta do what they gotta do.
Its just dry, and warm. Add in winds? perfect storm. Just like 2 yrs ago.
It just makes me wonder about the prisons.
I just hope everyone is safe.

Default How have the electrical outages affected CDCR prisons?

Does anybody know how power companies' planned electrical outages have affected CDCR prisons? All information is appreciated.

Ive not heard but wondered the same thing. I asked my hub about it (he's out) and he didnt know if they had generators. One would think they would for the lights, but ?

Welp, here we go again. Power outages yet again.
I think again we will be spared. Hoping my sister is this time.

She's in an area close to where the fires from 2017 ran thru and jumped the freeway.

I guess I'm lucky in Sac. PG&E doesn't do our electric, we have SMUD for that. PG&E is our gas. But we also aren't in an area where they would shut off power.

Neither is my sister. But as I said, she is close to where the fire ran past in 2017.
And now we have another fire. Its north of me in Geyserville, but its also moving fast.
Trying to figure out which direction its going. (besides west)

Those fires from 2017 went thru suburbs. It still boggles my mind. And even last night I was commenting to a friend on fb, about how odd it was. Same exact weather as Oct of 2017. Hot, and windy and very low humidity.
Woke up this morning to.......large rapidly moving fire, mandatory evacuations, still hot outside (70 degrees at 6am) and slight breeze (tho Im in the valley)
Just nerve wracking.
Son just left for work. He had power all day yesterday until he left then someone texted him after he arrived home that they shut off the power there.

I'm so far set in away from everything. We get all the smoke from them. The one in Paradise, man oh man, I couldn't step outside cuz of it. It was so bad here. Then the one in Napa that destroyed Napa basically, it looked just as bad. But that's because I'm in the Valley.

Yeah, we were spared the flames in both fires (Tubbs and Ranch). Im south of Santa Rosa and used to work outside.
For 3 weeks straight it was horrible to work in.
I think when it finally rained I was so happy to have air to breathe that I couldnt see.
