Question Federal Probation Violation

My boyfriend was picked up yesterday 10/19/2020 for Federal Probation Violation and taken to the Mecklenburg County Detention Center in Charlotte, NC. Neither I nor his family has heard from him. We only found out where he is because we had the local police track him down through his ankle monitor. His family will be having a video visit with him tomorrow but I could not get one scheduled before Thursday, 10/22. I'm going crazy trying to figure out what is going on. I've put money in his phone account but he hasn't called. What is the process once he is taken in? How can I find out about court appearances, etc?

You can follow his court appearance, when they are set, by opening an account on Pacer.
https://pacer.uscourts.gov/.
There is a small charge for copies, etc., but they don't even send out bills unless you accrue more fees than their quarterly minimum charge, so it should end up being free.

The local US Probation Office can give you details, if they are willing to do so.

Here are a couple of links that explain the federal probation (actually supervised release) violations court process. The US Probation Officer recommends a violation to the US Attorney's office, and if they agree, the PV will be filed in the local US District Court and the case will be decided by a federal judge after a hearing is held.

THANK YOU SOOOOO VERY MUCH! It took me a little while to figure out how to best use PACER but now that I've figured it out I'm amazed! I found exactly what I needed and more! By the way, he did try calling tonight but the phone system was not very user friendly and I missed his two calls. Thank you again! I might even sleep tonight!!!
