I met someone on Prison Inmates online that is in the FCI Manchester, and things just took off.
Hes been there since 2008, and will be released 2017, but his sentence was with guns, so he may get out sometime this year.
He says its a really nice place. He just mostly stays to himself.
But, reading this thread, ive heard both that its terrible, and that its good.
Which is it? lol. Is it a bad place? Are there a lot of fights?
What time do they get locked down there?
What time are the phones shut off? And the computers?
Thanks for your replies!

Welcome to Prison Talk. I hope you get answers from folks who know the conditions at Manchester first hand. It's not uncommon for some inmates to like a prison at the same time as others hate it, usually because of the actual inmates and staff members they are forced to be around.

My husband is new to the camp so that is all I can comment on. I went for a visit last weekend. Pretty laid back from other stories I have read on here.

Sending my love to Manchester FCI unit M-B missing him ( Leonard) so much wishing things would get better and we could share our love for one another for the rest of our life's literally sick and haven't spoke to him in days because of a stupid choice I made... All I do is pray for us and the love I know we share.. I can feel your soul and love all the way from Kentucky to newyork city..

Ask him to check the inmate bulletin boards for ads about van services from NYC, and also see if he can find anyone who already receives visits from your area for a possible ride share.

Default FCI Machester - re: Lodging and Visitation

I'm looking for information on hotel/motel in Manchester? Are there any there? If so how would you rate them. I would appreciate any lodging information such as rates and ratings. Also any other info available for visiting Manchester FCI.
Thanks to all & Have a Blessed Day!!

Check the internet for mapping sites (google maps, mapquest, etc.) for motels near "805 FOX HOLLOW ROAD MANCHESTER, KY 40962", the prison's address.

Have him ask around for visitation advice from folks who also receive visits at FCI Manchester. I hope you can visit him soon.

Here's the prison's street address, 805 FOX HOLLOW ROAD MANCHESTER, KY 40962, so you can check the internet to locate cities/airports/motels etc. near Manchester.

Does anyone know how long it takes to receive a release date from Manchester prison. my husband has done his paperwork with his case manager to go to the halfway house but hasn't received a date yet. this was in December. does anyone know how long that takes? also is home confinement an option for him?

Welcome to Prison Talk. His release/end of sentence date is shown on the bop inmate locator.
https://www.bop.gov/inmateloc/

Any "community corrections" time (HWH/HC) occurs before the actual release date, so he would still be "in bop custody", just not in a prison, so the date shown on the locator will not change because of it.

The Second Chance Act allows the bop to send most prisoners to a half way house for up to one year, and/or to up to 6 months in home confinement, but 10% of his sentence is more likely. A current problem appears to be causing a reduction in the amount of HWH time being offered to inmates. The bop is cancelling many existing HWH contracts as being too costly.

Before that happened, home confinement was usually initiated by the half way house, and supervised by the HWH staff. Since the shakeup, some folks have been sent directly from prison to home confinement by the bop. That is supervised by US Probation.

His case manager will recommend his end of sentence residency, and will tell him if, and when it will begin. This is not a good time for community corrections placement. The timing of when he will be told is totally up to the case manager.
