Sometimes it can be different units. Last week, my LO was on LD for 24 hrs and the rest of the facility was not.

At Manchester, visits with SHU inmates are on Tuesdays from 8AM to 3 PM, but only if the visitor (who must be on the prisoner's visiting list) arrives before 1 PM. The visits are held in the regular visiting room, not on a TV monitor or through glass.

Here is a link to the Manchester visiting rules.

Hello, I am new to the group, I have a loved one at Manchester, KY. He has done 19 Years in BOP and now only has 6 months left, His concerns are that he will be sent to a halfway house In Raleigh, NC However, They are only giving him 30 days there and he has no Friends or Relatives in NC and He says that isn’t enough time for himself to get back into society and that he will become Homeless. I tried calling the facility but of course they don’t give you proper information. My question is How can I help him get to his home town which is N.J. or will he have to submit his paperwork to a certain halfway house of his choice because his case manager just gave him paperwork but is not helping him in his situation/ or answering his questions. They are sending us in circles! I’ve tried calling and they claim they couldn’t give me any information because I could be anybody. They claim they need me to be verified? What do I need to do or who do I call? They claim the Residence Re Entry doesn’t have anyone that I can speak too. He is just inquiring about receiving more Halfway house time to get his self situated.
Please Help!
Exhausted

Welcome to Prison Talk. His case was apparently prosecuted in NC, which is now his designated release location. More important than HWH is having him convince his case manager to submit a "change of release" application to US Probation in New Jersey. He should list his reasons for requesting the change, family, job options, whatever, that are better in NJ than in NC. If he does get released to NC, my PO told me it is harder to transfer an existing case to a different office than it is to change the release location from prison.

This is probably the worst possible time for HWH placement since the bop is in the process of cancelling many existing HWH contracts. Maybe the available HWH beds will be better in NJ, but he first has to be approved to release there. The same case manager & warden will determine the amount of time he will get. If he can't convince his unit team to offer him more time, maybe a cop out to the warden will.
