Default Info on sending a TV to an inmate in IDOC

My bf is in Southwestern and is wanting a TV to help pass the time...I have one at home from a previous incarceration that is clear and issued from IDOC. Can I send him that one? I would much rather pay shipping as opposed to buying a new one since he should be home around this time next year. I have tried to call directly and left messages but haven't gotten a response. Tia

I would keep trying to get ahold of someone there. I would highly doubt they would allow it, but I hope I'm wrong. Good luck.

They're not going to allow you to send it in...he'll have to purchase one through commissary. I'm not familiar with Illinois, but in KY, when an inmate is released he can't give it (TV) to an inmate that doesn't have one. The darned thing has to come with him. At one point I/we had 2 of them

They won’t allow it. He’ll have to buy the one they sell thru commissary.

And yes, they are incredibly expensive and don't last long. My son is on his second one and he is trying to make it last - they go for $229 - ridiculous

My husbands celly’s broke and he doesn’t have the money to buy a new one so they’re sharing his now. That price is so absurd.

Oh I totally agree. The tablet was another $200 and my son waited 3 months after he paid for it.

He sent his MP3 player home but I don't think its useable outside of prison?

I do feel very bad for the guys w/o money or family. Its a very bad place without some diversion.

I'm sure chica, he will always appreciate that beautiful lovely gift from you to him, a television and think of you, each time, he turn it on, and watching tv... hola... hi.

I know IL.will not allow any one of us to send it in like that. Unfortunate.(I know) it should be allowed, but it's not.

Unfortunate, as they are in many places, per state so much cheaper ya know and reasonably cost now a days, for years.

He would definitely have to be the one to procure his own tv through commissary, by you sending the dinero $$$(cash) to his
inmate trust fund acct., so he can place his tv order. Good luck, and god bless. hugs and blessings. adios.
