Default How long before they have to report...

After being released, how long do they have before they have to report at their probation office?

Is it a standard amount of time? Does it deoend on county? Type of crime?

If it's anything like Texas, you have to report within 24 hrs of your release unless there is a specific date listed on the release certificate. A lot of times, If one gets released on a Friday then, most often they'd report on Monday.

Does anyone know if they have to report to the county where they were incarcerated, or do they just check in where they will be living after release? My LO is in the Panhandle but will be coming home down in Broward County. Just wanting to know if, upon release, we will have to stay up there for a few days or not since we will have to get a hotel room. Thanks for any info.

FrancesH, does he have a county transfer document? In most states, the person is released to the county in which they were convicted.

And the most I've seen in any state is 72 hours to report. Most are 24 business hours to report.

GingerM - No. He doesn't have any documentation yet. I am sort of trying to plan for what will be coming up in about 4 months. He is in prison in Walton County, was convicted in Leon, but will be living in Broward.

He may want to talk to someone inside about how to do a county transfer, or he may find himself living in Leon.
