I turned 50 last month. I dont understand how it happened, I told everyone that I was going to go backwards last year from then on and not forwards. No one listened. I have 29 year old nightmare daughter , a 26 year old perfect son and a 7 year old not quite so perfect grandson that I am raising. I work for Bank of America and have for almost 30 years.. oh, and one very handsome boyfriend of 3 years .

I am soon to be 59 and until very recently was in great shape...could workout....walk for miles....use all those great machines in the gym....and then poof...the arthritis fairy whacked me and I suddenly feel like my grandma. LOL. I will be getting a scooter soon to get around better.

I am married to my DH for 34 wonderful years and we have a daughter, 30 who loves her brother dearly and a son, 28 who has severe mental illness and now will soon be incarcerated for 3 years serving 85%. No granchildren....daughter not ready yet and thank God my son has no children.

I'm 49 turning 50 in June - can't wait! Excited to be living. Breast Cancer survivor! Recently widowed 4/30/9. 1 daughter with two granddaughters that are the joys of my life and 1 son who makes bad choices and incarcerated for the next few years. The devil is a liar and they are not keeping him as long as the books say. Prayer changes thing!

I am learning to love me and be good to me!

I am the only one that really appreciates me so for my 50th year I am going to be really good to me. I am getting a new car for me - going to cut back on the "giving and sacrifices" for others and treat me - just for one year. I am going to come first!

Smart lady! Finally in my 64th year I'm getting smarter about taking care of myself. As I type I'm waiting on the pathology of a biopsy. Two bad mamograms, sonogram and now just waiting to hear. You deserve the best and not to feel one little bit guilty about claiming it. Hugs

I understand the need to maybe separate discussions not all but some. Im having a hard tome with this bid. It used to de easier I had a house full of babied (thought it was tough HA) now I have a house full of teens and preteens, so someone that could relate to what Im feeling now may be more helpful than someone who dealt with it 20 years ago. and besides parenting has changed a lot in the past 20 years they use to let ya hit your kids!!!! Im totally kidding I dont even want to go that route but an older person may not understand the counseling route which is the one I took. I dont blame them it's just that times have changed my own mom thinks counseling is for the birds blah, blah,. tx 4 listening Kim oops w8n4billy

I am 64 already raised my kids now I have my grandson to raise age 13.In the last five years I have had my other 3 grandchildren live with me for awhile (all teens) Because I was a foster parent until I was able to obtain guardianship I was required to attend parenting classes. Yes some things are different, cant spank anymore. But ,teens are still self centered,no it alls for the most part. All I can advise is keep them BUSY, and pray a lot. Conseling is good, but try to avoid the drugs so many want to give kids now a days. You will get through it hopefully without killing them. I tell you it aint easy with teens, the first time or the second time around.

My name is Laurie and I'm 48. My son "Donner" is 26, soon to be 27 in December. He's been "inside" since he was nineteen, hopefully to be paroled by Thanksgiving, give or take a few. I have another son 25 and a daughter 18. I'm married - ten years. I have a delightfully amazing grandaughter Faith-whos going to have a little brother soon.

I'm kinda going off the beaten path here (sorry) but... Hawaii mom, I grew up there in Hawaii on Oahu (Navy brat). Would love to visit my old stommpin grounds someday.
Mahalo and Aloha

I'm 58, my husband is 64. We've been married 38 yrs. and are still crazy about each other and our kids, thank The Lord! Our youngest, age 30 (others are 33 and 37) has been in since he was 29, will be out in the summer or fall of 2011. I couldn't do this w/o PTO friends of all ages!
