New Jersey Parole, Probation, Halfway House, Community Service, etc.All information & questions relating to parole, probation, halfway house, community service, electronic monitoring, etc. in New Jersey should be posted here.
I am trying to find information on applying for halfway houses. It is difficult to find anything through any of the official websites. If anyone knows of any programs one can apply for I would appreciate the information. My husband has already applied for ISP and was told he was ineligible. No explanation as to why, since his charge is NOT one they list in the literature that disqualifies you. They of course do not give an explanation. So, if anyone can offer any resources I would appreciate it.
I don't know much about halfway houses in NJ. If you google "NJ halfway house", at the top of the return page is a map. At the bottom of the map is a "see all" button. That might give you somewhere to start?
If i recall your previous post in your intro...he's still in county jail (but doing *prison time*) so unfortunately it is going to be hard to get the info you need. No access to counselors etc.
I wonder if Covid could be the reason for the denial?

Thank you. He was finally transferred a few days ago. Hopefully we will get some answers from the counselors. They certainly don't give you any info in County about anything. He still never received his isp application he requested when he was sentenced 2 months ago. Good thing I sent it.
I'm not sure if CoVid would be the reason. you would think they would want to get people out. I asked his defense atty about it and he was supposed to get back to me but he doesn't respond to quickly.

Normally after sentencing the attny will be *done* with you. Plus its your hub's attny not yours. Sometimes that can be a sticky point.
Seeing a counselor took my hub a very long time to get to him. He was basically flying blind. Thankfully one of his cell mates was somewhat helpful in explaining some things to him (like how it all works, reception, what to look out for etc)
