Only 1 hour visit on Xmas w/5 hour wait? Lockdown for New Years Eve?

So I was going to go At Christmas but he was told that they pushed that day down to 1 hour and was like 5 hour waits last year and was going to go on New Year’s Eve and he said that last year they locked down statewide on New Year’s Eve into new year day. Has anyone else heard of this?

Hmmm....depends on the prison I guess. We've gone on XMas before and no issues whatsoever.

It is true that they lock down New Years Eve (usually after visiting hours are over) and into the next am (early).

They also lock down on Super Bowl Sunday (again usually after visiting hours are over).

That is the way its down where my son is.

Idt they can formally do that down to an hour but they reserve the right to cut visits if it’s get crazy. Holidays are tough. They lockdown after 730 on nye they can not restrict visits that day. Where is he at?

I remember my letters from New Year’s Eve lol Where my guy was at they party on New Year’s Eve (he was sober by the time he got out thank god) He told me New Year’s Eve at midnight it’s smells like weed and they are yelling fuck the police at midnight. They have to lock down or they would probably riot.

Omg I’m sure! They gotta give em a little break though (within reason). It is another year down of their time, so whatever can help them focus forward. There has to be a constructive way to let them release some of that energy.

While a visit on a holiday is a great thing(x-mas, new years, fathers day) . Everyone else is thinking the same thing. I have always told inmates that it is just a day on the calendar and things do get crazy in the visiting room and at times we have terminated visits due to overcrowding. Is it really worth the trip? I always advise them to pick another quieter day to celebrate a major holiday.

We went today and it was crowded - lots of new folks who had to do the paperwork. We did get a 3.5 hour visit so it was worth it.

Wow 3.5 hours that’s awesome where is that at? We are limited to 2 hours.

Visits are supposed to be 4 hours (extended to 6 for our of state visitors-when able to accommodate). Where are you at they’re saying it’s 2?

My son is at a minimum prison. We've never been asked to leave due to overcrowding - first in, first out applies.

Agree with Bikerguy - my son says its just another day - we are very fortunate that we can visit often usually 3-5 times/month.

Will be glad when we don't have to make the drive though...

My girl told me Logan was on Level 1 for New Years Eve again this year. I wish Illinois would open visitation again, its been a long 9 months.
