My first dog was channel #5 a black standard poodle. I bought her from a lady who showed poodles. She was titled in obedience, but because her confirmations wasn't right the lady decided to sell her. She is a happy dog who is always ready to ride. I wish I could find the pic of her in my jeep, oh well. I call her poodle because that fancy name just doesnt fit her nature.

Poodle was raised around allot of dogs and when I got her home, she didn't do well by herself. So I decided to get another dog. I got Lacy (as she was called then) from the afghan rescue. Her and her brother were retrieved from the dallas shelter. At first they thought they were greyhounds because they had severe malnutrition and had lost all their fur. As their coats grew in it was obvious that they were afghans. They were adopted by a couple in Tulsa. The brother died and the man told me he never bonded with lacy and he was unable to house break her. I took her home and immediately noticed she had a urinary tract infection, hence she was urinating constantly. I got that cleared up and no more problems. She was hit by a car in 2000 and had a severly broken pelvis. It broke my heart. All the vets told me to put her down. I couldnt. I nursed her back to heath and she has been my heart ever since. This is an older pic, the last time I had her groomed, they shaved her, head and all. :argh

Yes, they are considered among the most trainable and they are real people pleasers. Now, afghans are considered among the least trainable. She isn't any less intelligent, she just doesn't care what I want her to do, she does her own thing, much like a cat.

I thought I would post a link to the afghan rescue incase anyone was interested.

No pics yet....I'll do that when I figure out my scanner and my new puter.... I have 2 cats, Smokey and Sydney Lucifer. Both are females. They are indoor/outdoor cats. Smokey is very lovable and cuddly...as long as you don't get near her butt (LOL). Sydney is a pain in my rear. She broke an expensive tea set the first day my daughter brought her home. But she's an innocent animal and I couldn't hold it against her. She loves to lay at my feet...especially when I'm on the computer. LOL..until I step on her!!!

Drake is the beast. He's 1/2 pit bill, 1/4 Rottweiler and 1/4 Husky. He weighs 95 pounds but thinks he weighs only 5!!! He talks to us!!! He has his own clear versions of I LOVE YOU, OUT, ROLL AND F..... YOU. AND he knows when its time to say them!

Actually all three animals are my daughters. Smokey and Sydney live with me all the time. Drake spends about half the time with me. I enjoy them. The are all good company especially on lonely days!!

Although there's no picture to be had, let me introduce to the best guy ever, Scooter. He is the most popular breed in America, the mutt -- a poodle and cairn terrier mix. "Homely handsome" is the way a neighbor of ours describes this dog who is 30 lbs. of sheer macho. He'll go to anyone with a warm lap or anyone who'll scratch his belly, thus earning the nickname of "slut puppy." Smart as a whip, though. The first time he saw a dog on television in a commercial, he went clear to the back of the TV to sniff that dog out once he disappeared from the screen. What can I say? He's got our vote for King of Canines.

Default introducing the pto purtle

hey...what's up? my name is yerta, and i have been emme's cellie (er, roommate) since november...you may think i am one of those regular old turtles, but don't fall for what your eyes may wrongly show.

i, yerta, am a "purtle." (that's half person/half turtle, to those who aren't up on these things.)

i like: long walks, hard-boiled eggs, being stubborn, cucumbers, the back of emme's closet, a clean aquarium, being underneath the brown chair, and biting emme's toes.

i welcome any and all correspondence, and wish you all well.
