I'm trying to figure out why is Prison Big Sandy is the only prison that let them out only for a 1hr in a half and sometimes not even! How many inmates in that prison to be letting them out for only that long? It just doesn't make any sense. Just CRUEL!!!! I have family members in orther states that is allowed out numerous of times even during the covid-19 and I can name a few on two hands!!

I think every state is different on Dallas they just extended our stay at home order until May 15. Also my husband said big sandy will continue to stay like it is until the same date as well.

Every state will be different. Illinois isn't expected to peak until mid-May so our stay at home order will more than likely be extended until at least June. Fbop will probably continue their lockdowns until the majority of states lift their orders, but nothing is certain, just keep praying for the best & safest outcome.

They are locked down to try to prevent the spread of the virus. Has anyone got a call this morning?

www.bop.gov/coronavirus/index.jsp

This has a map of outbreaks in the BoP. Also, there is a link to the FAQ regarding home confinement in the case of a big outbreak. And who could be suitable for early release.

Have any of you ladies had any issues with mail not being delivered to your loved one? I've sent a few letters during the past month or so & he hasn't received any of them. Just thought I'd ask before I call the facility...

When you open the first page in each forum (here's a link to the one in introduce yourself, http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=38) there is a black "new thread" box near the top left. Click on it, give it a title and then write your message, it will be at the top of the list of threads in that forum.

Yes. We have had issues. I got two mailed back that were never even opened and I know they made it to the facility because someone wrote his cell block on the envelope. But even aside from that, my letters to him have been getting there out of order and all are taking longer than usual getting to him. He said his newspaper is coming a day later as well.

Bop prison mail rooms can be problematic. Before they stopped allowing outside eyeglasses, even from a doctor, (why?) I jumped through all of the hoops necessary to receive my new prescription eyeglasses from home. The process included obtaining a package authorization slip from the counselor that had to be included in the package. We even wrote "bop package authorization form enclosed" on the outside, but it was still returned, unopened. I had it resent, and that time I did receive my new glasses.

So the problem can be a policy issue, or a lazy/incompetent mail room employee.

I sent 4 envelopes and one envelope open but they sent them all back. I sent mail numerous times before and did not have a PROBLEM. I think it's because of the covid-19 that they not giving the mail. Do what I do and go straight to the Post office and do priority and you will get a tracking number to make sure it get there and if the Inmate doesn't get it they keep it from them just to send it back without even giving it to them but the inmates does get a paper stating they did get mail but it's being sent back. Keep in mind IF YOU SEND PICTURES THEY WILL PRINT THE PICTURES ON A PLAIN PAPER lol. I know BIG SANDY IS THE ONLY PRISON THAT DO THAT. Also the letters must be only 5 and the pictures only 5-6.
