Default Felons writting felons

Can a person in one federal prison camp write to another person at another federal prison camp?

We meet so many people here, and we talk so much before going in. It would seem a shame if when you go in that you can not keep in touch. If they monitor the mail then they would know that it is just regular correspondence.

Thanks for your input.

No, that is specifically prohibited without the permission of BOTH wardens. There are situatiomns where this does get approved: Immediate family members, co0defendants with ongoing litigation (and without CIMS status), parties to civil litigation, etc.

I should point out that this is easy to catch because all outgoing mail must contain the full return address and register number - the requirement for incoming is the same.
